Annihil8 - Regressive Progression Lyrics

8th January, 1564
That's when Galileo Galilei died of sickness
His ideas and propositions causing uproar
Being arrested for suggesting a scientific view
Showing why the popular one was due
For review, right to being guilty of heresy
But if he hadn't been alive, what would it be
Like today, with blindness to the highest degree
15th August, 1947
That's when India was declared independent
From the oppression of Britain's unfair succession
Gandhi and other freedom fighters dared to fight back
Avoiding violence and riots, Gandhi was a think-tank
Using civil violation, to fight without attack
Facing the consequences, and not turning back
No matter how bad, or how serious the backlash
4th April, 1968
That's when the assassination of King the great took place
We all know him, as a face
A heroic man who had vim and helped the human race
By fighting for the rights of blacks
Using non-violent methods and displaying acts, of might
Facing the consequences, and not turning back
No matter how bad, or how serious the backlash

Talk about Gandhi, talk about King
Other inspirations, there's one factor ruling
While all used different techniques
It all boils down to these two words: free speech
Talk about Galileo, talk about Darwin
Other inspirations, there's one factor ruling
They couldn't have achieved what they wanted to achieve
If it weren't for these two words: free speech

Freedom of speech is a fundamental right
For latinos, to asians, to blacks, to whites
Without expression there can be no progression
So what's with all these so called "progressive" regressions?
Creating a culture of fad intersectional victimhood
Deciding which speech is bad and, which is good
Banning, censoring and slandering certain views
Dropping the constitution, and making their own rules
Censorship of views that are offensively true
Forgetting logic & merit, but rather thinking of who
The speech is coming from, is he white or is she black?
I don't give a crap, every view matters, regardless of that
Of their colour, their class, their points of oppression
The government, can't crack any further concessions
Physical assault and attack, can't be used to fight
Certain speech, that the mainstream doesn't like
Not every white male is a racist, sexist bigot
Because he rightly calls out some social justice hypocrite
Even if speech is bigoted, they should be allowed to speak
Why? To realise the havoc their ideas can wreak
Certain speech can't be suppressed
Just because it isn't politically correct to the so called oppressed
It can't only be for those who think a certain way
Regardless of who, speech can't be taken away

Talk about Gandhi, talk about King
Other inspirations, there's one factor ruling
While all used different techniques
It all boils down to these two words: free speech
Talk about Galileo, talk about Darwin
Other inspirations, there's one factor ruling
