Beach Fossils is an American indie rock band from Brooklyn, New York, formed in 2009.
They are known for their lo-fi, atmospheric sound and Payseur's vocal style.
The act was originally a means to expand the solo project of Dustin Payseur. That same year
bassist John Peña and guitarist Christopher Burke were recruited as the lineup for their initial tour.

Whenever Im reading I make a list of words I like. Usually theyre words that arent as clear as Beach Fossils, but when youre choosing a band name it needs to be something that people can remember. Its kind of unfortunate because at the same time there was a lo-fi beach theme going on so we ended up getting lumped in with that. Now thats phased out some maybe people will stop associating us with that genre.
