Through conditions so unrelenting
We find a way to still advance
To cease moving is to cease living
So onward we march
The destination undefined,
Betterment could prove delusory
The unknown provides the illusion
That hope may still be found
With each day, a new trial
This world, and endless deluge of nightmares
An arsenal of pain of anguish of grief
Is there no end to the misery?
In defiance of logic or sanity
Our bodies refuse to succumb
An instinct so primal: a will to exist
Takes over where cognizance has failed
But deliverance or a semblance
Seems to be but a vanishing dream
Accept the truth we've so brazenly denied?
Is it the path of least resistance?
A line drawn
A last intention, we declare
If the winter takes us
We will acquiesce graciously
As the air becomes frigid
Crushing the faux-warmth
Our thoughts turn to only
How prolonged our suffering will be
Overcome by the torrent of white
With senses failing
Our bodies too frigid to collapse
Each piercing breath is agony
A wave of memories, both real and fabricated
Washes over our damned society
Clinging to something we never had
Utopian visions atrocious lies
A cavern beckons, a shadow in the white
Barely perceptible among the frozen cliffs
We take our shelter for the final time
Is this where our bones will turn to dust?
We coalesce into a single mass
Each body clamoring for the heat of the whole
We writhe as one, though movements slow
Consciousness drifts, into the wind-blown depths
