Adam Fixter - Way Back Home (feat. Theo Seah) Lyrics

When I was 18 years of age, I moved out to go the distance
With 4 students in one house, I might as well have been distant
Said goodbye to all my friends, I'm saying see you at Christmas
But now we're far from home and I'm fading out of existence
Sleepless nights, jet-lagged eyes, there's no time to say I missed it
Yet the highlight of my night is
When I sit down and take my time to
Send a skype call to my lady saying 'darling I really miss you'
And then I realise she's the same and she's the one I always turn to
And now we're 2 years on, I'm almost 20 years gone
If my home is where her heart is I have no fear of growing old
And when I come back home the first place that I will go
Is back in time for a pint with the boys that I call my bros
These are the things that I miss when I'm travelling on the road
Then I remember they're all here when I'm down and feeling low
All these people in my life I'm never really alone
So I'll say it again, yeah
There ain't no place like my home

I keep on searching for my ticket out of here
But I fool myself when my destination disappears
The road is long, I'm hoping you can take me home
And then I do it again
And find my way back home
And find my way back home
And find my way back home

Growing up I never questioned where the place that I call home is
Now every time I think I'm that, I'm starting to feel homeless
'Cause I'm at uni now and yeah I'm sure that you know this
But I've been keeping quiet hoping I go unnoticed
Physically for two-thirds of the year, I live in halls
And I'm about to move the contents of my life to other walls
The village I grew up in doesn't seem like home at all
Because the people I was close with don't know me anymore
Yeah I could use a place that no one knows about to be alone
I spent six straight weeks last year without a phone
Came at the worst time zone yet I admit that it was good for me
Needed a break from her and now that's history
Looking back in disbelief 'cause it was home now it's deceased
And I'm re-piecing every piece of me to give me peace at least
I think I'm so much wiser, and for the first time, I feel inspired
I guess when I find my home's when I retire

I keep on searching for my ticket out of here
But I fool myself when my destination disappears
The road is long, I'm hoping you can take me home
And then I do it again
And find my way back home
And find my way back home
And find my way back home

If I told you how I'm living, would you say I need to get about?
I tell myself the same but I'm too lost to turn around
I've been searching lately for a place to live and settle down
I think this is the fifth house, can we just say yes now?
Yeah this one's the best round, I know it's not the best town
But I attend the uni here and I ought to confess now
I know it's only for a year, but I'm suppressing next doubts
I've done the bills and paid out, can I take a break now?
Please tell me where to find my home
The answer isn't on the phone
Every time that I come back I feel like everybody's grown
And I'm still stuck on the intro, I don't know
Maybe I just overthink and under stress
Some problems I can't overthrow
Scrolling through the feed and feeling down
Why do I do it though?
Keep on swimming on and getting tired from the undertow
Will I sink into the mess or can I let my history go? When do I find my home?

I keep on searching for my ticket out of here
But I fool myself when my destination disappears
The road is long, I'm hoping you can take me home
And then I do it again

And find my way back home
I keep on searching for my ticket out of here
But I fool myself when my destination disappears
The road is long, I'm hoping you can take me home
And then I do it again
And find my way back home
Find my way back home
And find my way back home
Find my way back home
And find my way back home
