Afro Soma - Memoirs feat. Ozay Moore Lyrics

[ Featuring Ozay Moore ]

I Can't Get you out of my Mind.
I think about you all the time
Even though your gone your legacy lives on,
Even though your gone your legacy lives on.

I Can't Get you out of my Mind.
I think about you all the time
Even though your gone your legacy lives on,
Even though your gone your legacy lives on.

Christmas Eve 2016,
Me and my brother in the kitchen watching pots steam
Playing old records on the next room, vibing on the holiday,
Missing family cuz homes a couple thousand miles away
Now we carrying tradition on the stove top,
The southern roots of our northwest flock
Our matriarch "May Lemon" Mary Pumphrey the heart,
Took her last breath that night While do by our part
Celebrating that beautiful contribution of our heritage,
Granny always made it a point to make sure that we was fed
So in preparing these family dishes, the text was read,
While she was in my heart, now she's in my head
Cuz all this christmases spent watching her cook ,
Taking mental notes, how it's posed to smell, taste and look
Never would have prepared me for her passing that took,
A little piece of my soul, and a page out my book
But every chapter proceedings something I hope she can read,
As we're carrying on her legacy of love and meeting needs
We teach our children to cook , there's history in these greens,
It's deeper than a meal, it's found in the breath we breathed

I Can't Get you out of my Mind.
I think about you all the time
Even though your gone your legacy lives on,
Even though your gone your legacy lives on.

I Can't Get you out of my Mind.
I think about you all the time
Even though your gone your legacy lives on,
Even though your gone your legacy lives on.

Had an uncle who didn't talk a lot,
I mean he'd smile and nod ya know a quiet man who seldom shared his heart
Worked for the city retired and hardly left the crib
Maybe the isolation made him sick
I came home for a visit, family had a cookout,
Uncle Donald cracking jokes he finally getting looks now
Caught me in a corner , talked to me for bout an hour,
It was so out of character , his voice was getting louder
He said more to me in 60 min than 30 years,
Everybody chalked it up to venting he was due for his
Moment memorable, couple days later pops
Hit me on me on my line and said "that episode was mental tho.
He was breaking down, acting out of character,
Beginning stages of dementia that's what doctor said it was.
Came on quick, he was admitted to hospice
After a month of violent behavior threatening doctors
Losing that battle inside his head,
But I feel like I found my uncle that day instead
The quiet narrative of a broken man with regrets...
Is made a beautiful eulogy in his test.

Blessed is the man or woman who has loved and lost
It's better to have known love than to have never loved at
L Absence makes the heart fonder,
We can learn to love a lot stronger
Maybe we need to love sooner
Real love ain't for honeymooners
Love is patient, love is kind,
Love is strong, love is blind

I Can't Get you out of my Mind.
I think about you all the time
Even though your gone your legacy lives on,
Even though your gone your legacy lives on.

I Can't Get you out of my Mind.
I think about you all the time
Even though your gone your legacy lives on,
Even though your gone your legacy lives on.
