An albatross around my neck, two accessorize
High on a sea of hard wary eyes
For a galling act, of stepping outside'll
What a way to thrive
With every step a new chronology, in my bodily autonomy
The bent bolts which broke on the bounds between Billings and Butte
Landed in fertile soil for forbidden fruit
To slake your thirst, simply plant your boots and grab at the roots
Soon I'll soar through the prairie, immodestly
At unimaginable velocity
But chipped black nail polish cant cover the motor oil
Under my fingernails with which I was born
Into a world which refuses to bend to the things that we yearn
I'll be the glass bottle neck bouncing harmless off of your teeth
Till one day I unexpectedly give way, like warm fresh meat
Well just you wait, until you see how vulnerable I can be
But chipped black nail polish can't cover the blood
Under my fingernails with which I was born
To mold myself with beauty and truth without bravery or concern
The torches and pitchforks seem a wee bit cliché,
But I feel more and more like a throwback these days
Say that you'll be good, and won't ever stray,
Stay under the spotlight which keeps freaks at bay
Let drunks flick their ashes, and passersby bray
But to turn back now would be unthinkable shame
Cross borders, in subways, on streets, I'm the same
In grocery stores or my bed, I'm still the same
But aren't you so proud to be alive, yeah aren't you so proud to be alive
Aren't you so proud to be alive? Well I hope that you're proud just to be
Still alive
No I couldn't hoe another row even if I wanted to
At least now I can try to feel
Cute
