Alter Bridge - Walk The Sky Album Lyrics

Alter Bridge - Walk The Sky Lyrics

One Life

One light
Burning from long ago
The eternal flame
It's calling me back
To find

One life
With so many tales untold
Living with open eyes
I discover a new storyline

If there is meaning in the prose
From the golden age
Let it's wisdom guide me home
To a place
Where I am safe
A clear escape

Wouldnt You Rather

Sell yourself short and buy a world of pain
Follow your bliss or pay the price, oh
All of these lessons, I've learned them so well
There is no gain worth the commerce of self

Wouldn't you rather
Live from the heart?
A life that will matter
To be lived from the start, oh start

You wear an albatross around your neck
The spoils of war will bring you down
Heed my advice, may you hear every word
Don't sacrifice meaning for riches that burn

Wouldn't you rather
Live from the heart?
A life that will matter
To be lived from the start, oh

All of these lessons I've learned for myself
There is no gain worth the commerce of self
A dream left for dead now, a nightmare that feels like hell

Wouldn't you rather
Live from the heart?
A life that will matter
To be lived from the start

Wouldn't you rather
Live from the heart?
A life that will matter
To be lived from the start

I'd rather live from the heart, oh
I'd rather live from the heart

In The Deep

I am still
As the moment I hold in my hand
I can't let go

Here and now
Time and space the illusion so grand
And then I know

Every breath leads the way my escape it is never far

When I fall in the deep
With you I see
That heaven's never far

Let it wash over me
The truth I seek
Let it lift my heavy heart

So alive
Every rise every fall brings me back

All that I'll ever need is this moment to get me by

When I fall in the deep
With you I see
That heaven's never far

Let it wash over me
The truth I seek
Let it lift my heavy heart

I'm slowly fading
In your arms

I'm slowly fading
In your arms

When I fall in the deep
With you I see
That heaven's never far

Let it wash over me
The truth I seek
Let it lift my heavy heart

Godspeed

Test me once again
You know I didn't do anything
Set my life on low
You know I could have had it all

Drifting out of place
With no direction and no escape
Set out all alone
Oh to place I don't belong

Without you
I know that I must change
Without you
I'll never be the same

No

Farewell godspeed
And goodbye
You have lived
And you have changed
All our lives

Test me all the way
Surely you know
I'm not afraid

Prove now once again
That I will never see the end

Without you
I know that I must change
Without you
I'll never be the same

Farewell godspeed
And goodbye
You have lived
And you have changed
Oh all our lives

Cast away
Our regrets and all our fears
Just like
Like you did when you were here

And then the days
They ran out

Farewell godspeed
And goodbye
You have lived
And you have changed
Oh all our lives

Cast away
Our regrets and all our fears
Just like
Like you did when you were here

And then the days
They ran out

Native Son

Fate
Giver of life is now all but dead and gone

Pain
Left to die in blood drenched fields or driven off

Now nothing remains
A ritual tamed
What's taken away
We will never replace

Now I'm a native son in a foreign land
And I'm just living in a world I can't understand

Time
Marching forward brings a slow and cruel decay

As I fight
For the heritage so many died to save

Now nothing remains
A ritual tamed

What's taken away
We will never replace

Now I'm a native son in a foreign land
And I'm just living in a world I cant understand

Fractured and cut off from all we had
Severed all that's sacred now we stand
Strangers left to wander this strange land

Now I'm a native son in a foreign land
And I'm just living in a world that I cant understand

I look around and see that my world is gone
Still I keep trying to fit in where I don't belong

Take The Crown

So Sorry
So Sorry
But you're going down

Under the lights and thunder
We come to life

You roll the bones and wonder
What fate decides

The screams the frenzy
Reveals the worst

As hearts of many
Hunger to be first

Let's state the obvious
Right now
We'll be victorious
We'll take the crown

Just like we've alway done before

You're digging in
We'll step around
Cause in the end
We will stand our ground

Blood on the diamond flowing
Tears fall tonight

There is no peace in hoping
You won't survive

The sound and fury
Will shake the earth

As cowards scurry
Knowing we've returned

Let's state the obvious
Right now
We'll be victorious
We'll take the crown

Just like we've always done before

You're digging in
We'll step around
Cause in the end
We will stand our ground
You will bow down in the end
Know our reign we will defend

Young and impossible
As we stake our claim
In the league of unstoppables
Your resistance in the end will be in vane

Let's state the obvious
Right now
We'll be victorious
We'll take the crown

Just like we've always done before

You're digging in
We'll step around
Cause in the end
We will stand our ground

You're going down but we're

So Sorry
So Sorry
But we'll take the crown

Indoctrination

It's time
Want to take you as you are
Just purse your lips
And close your eyes

So sweet
The nectar of your heart
Take me in
I'll make you mine

I'm in your head
You can't deny it
You're hanging on my every word
Now I've got you under my spell

Indoctrinated
In the fire
And though I've seen you at your worst
Surrender I will never tell on you

Your seduced
You're right where you belong
You're so confused
Watch my colors turn tonight

I'm in your head
You can't deny it
You're hanging on my every word
Now I've got you under my spell

Indoctrinated
In the fire
And though I've seen you at your worst
Surrender I will never tell on you

I'm the fools messiah
I turn you on with fire
I'm the fools messiah take me in tonight

Like a moth to a flame
You will give as I take your mind
So don't be afraid
I will leave you satisfied

I'm in your head
You can't deny it
You're hanging on my every word
Now I've got you under my spell

Indoctrinated
In the fire
You know this doesn't have to hurt
Surrender I will never tell on you

The Bitter End

I've walked every road
And turned every corner
Searched high and low
Where I did not belong

Adrift with the tide
Always hungry and yearning
If only I'd known
That the answer
Was here all along

The Bitter End will come in time
But the joy I have found
In the sweet here and now
Keeps me alive

I've kissed the lips
Of an angel in waiting
Devil in kind
I've been lost and deceived

The thrill had to fade
In this world for the taking
Once I woke up
To what mattered.
Then I could see

The Bitter End will come in time
But the joy I have found
In the sweet here and now
Keeps me alive

We're lost on a road
Where all we can find
Are just the remnants of hope
That somehow we leave far behind

But this much I know
Somehow we'll be alright
Cause It's never too late
To learn how to start living right

The Bitter End will come in time
But the joy I have found
In the sweet here and now
Keeps me alive

The Bitter End will come in time
Starting right now
I'll stop falling down
And start living right

Pay No Mind

A lost soul
A willing hand
A scapegoat
The sacrificial lamb

It's so cold
A one way scam
That takes hold
So devious the plan

But time
It will unravel
And expose
Us for the fools we are

We pay no mind
We pay no mind at all
We must be blind
When this ever stop

When the last man falls
Who'll be the first to rise
And call you out
Who be the first to draw the line?

Indifference
Our lasting curse
Resilience
Your blessing in disguise

The millions
You stand to hurt
Still willing
To stand right by your side

But time
It will unravel
And expose
Us for the fools we are

We pay no mind
We pay no mind at all
We must be blind
When will this ever stop?

When the last man falls
Who'll be the first to rise
And call you out
Who'll be the first to draw the line?

Forever Falling

Never mind the cost
On this beaten path I'm lost
Betrayed all sense of self
Ruin knows me all too well
I cast this light into oblivion
Shadows cast for miles as it falls

Relapse, regression
Return, remission
Oh give in and fail again
Fall into madness
Plummet and find this
And I cannot just pretend
Oh carry this light away
Oh carry this light away
Forever failing down

With every breathe I take
The strength in me escapes
I cast this light into oblivion
Even darkness now, it too, it is gone

Relapse, regression
Return, remission
Oh give in and fail again
Fall into madness
Plummet and find this
And I cannot just pretend
Oh carry this light away
Oh carry this light away
Forever failing down

I am now lost, somewhere down deep inside
Oh bury the fool, the wretch and his habit haven't died

Relapse, regression
Return, remission
Oh give in and fail again
Fall into madness
Plummet and find this
And I cannot just pretend
Oh carry this light away
Oh carry this light away
Forever failing down

Clear Horizon

If I died tonight
Would the question still remain
Did I live for what was right
Did I live this life in vane

A simulated lie
Just a spark that's sure to fade
Then I start to wonder why
I couldn't see the apparition from the start

Like a counterfeit
I've had enough of this
I bought the dream and it let me down so

I want to take a risk
I want to learn to live
To find the one thing that can't be sold

This might be paradise
A mirage that's in decay
In this world it's hard to find
Something real among the wreckage of our hope

Like a counterfeit
I've had enough of this
I bought the dream and it let me down so

Awake now I see
The clear horizon
Was just out of reach
From the start

If I take a chance
Will you cross the line with me
And amend this circumstance
Only this eternal truth can set you free

Like a counterfeit
I've had enough of this
I bought the dream and it let me down

Awake now I see
The clear horizon
Was just out of reach
From the start

Pure escape
Pure escape
Pure escape
It's not too late

Lay me down
In the field
I'm letting go

There is beauty to behold
A pure escape

Just take me now
To a place
Where I am whole

Consume the void that I have known
It's not to late

I want to take a risk
I want to learn to live
To find the one thing that can't be sold

Awake now I see
The clear horizon
Was just out of reach
From the start

The day we can see
The clear horizon
Is the moment
We save our broken hearts

The clear horizon
A pure escape
A clear horizon

Walking on the Sky

You have wondered
You have wondered since the day that you were born
Are you fearless
Are you fearless or insane

Though you don't need
Though you don't need to know the answer anymore
All these questions
So many questions still remain
The question still remains
The question still remains

Do you feel alive
Tempting your fate on the line
Pushing death to the fray
Making one last great escape

Above the ground
Above the ground you see the world the way you want
You feel a rush
You feel a rush you can't describe

And if you fall
And if you fall at least you found where you belong
As you tremble
As you tremble on the wire
Tremble on the wire
Walking on the sky

Do you feel alive
Tempting your fate on the line
Pushing death to the fray
Making one last great escape

Here you stand all alone
Above the crowd the air is cold
Losing balance
Where you can't let go

Here and now
In the clouds
You have found
Your escape

For all you give
It's worth the risk
At least you've lived
Your own way
You're on the line
Walking on the sky

Do you feel alive
Tempting your fate on the line
Pushing death to the fray
Making one last great escape

Do you feel alive
Tempting your fate on the line
Still pushing death to the fray
Making one last great escape

Tear Us Apart

Blind sided once again
Fooled by the fool within
You know

You're dead to a sacrifice
Slowly you wake to find
No hope

Withered and burning red
The promises you left for dead
Go cold

But this too will surely fade
This truth you cannot escape

That we have to face
And learn from mistakes to grow

Don't let the world
Tear us apart
Don't live a lie
Don't break a heart
Don't compromise
Just wait

Drink from a poisoned well
Only to kill yourself
Alone

Wake up and take a stand
While there is still a chance
Let go

Hatred cannot replace
The love you are meant to save
And hold

Silence the great divide
This truth you cannot deny

We have to face
And learn from mistakes to grow

Don't let the world
Tear us apart
Don't live a lie
Don't break a heart
Don't compromise
Just wait

If there is something
Worth saving
Let it show

If there is something
Worth changing
Let it go

Time only wasting
Now you know

Don't let the world
Tear us apart
Don't live a lie
Don't break a heart
Don't compromise
Just wait

Dying Light

Here we go again
Its coming on just like before
The same old sinking feeling
Pulls me down an endless hole

Oh the heavy lifting
As I fret for what might be
If this is the beginning
Of the end then let me dream

In the eye of the storm
From the moment we're born

In the dying light
We learn to live
When we give in
To the silent waves that crash inside

In the dying light
We can begin
To live again
When we wake up to eternal life

Let this be an exercise
In how to face your fears
Step into the realm of madness
If you dare my dear

We are lost in the swarm
From the moment we're born

In the dying light
We learn to live
When we give in
To the silent waves that crash inside

In the dying light
We can begin
To live again
When we wake up to eternal life

All that we need
Passes by
Until we concede
And resign
This mortal coil into the light

In the dying light
We learn to live
When we give in
To the silent waves that crash inside

In the dying light
We can begin
To live again
When we wake up to eternal life
