Analogical Da Poet - No Love In The Hood (Intro) Lyrics

Thank you, thank you, thank you
Y'all far too kind
Can I do a poem for y'all
Welcome to No Love In The Hood

She loves me, she loves me not
You know if it wasn't for you
I wouldn't be the man I am today
Raised in this concrete jungle where wolves and lions play
My dad always taught me that a good woman will enable a better way
But before there's a better way there needs to be a better you
So what do you choose?
What did I choose?
Nothing but liquor stores and cash checking places
Where ignorance breeds violence we need balance homeostasis
Unjustified court room verdicts mass incarceration closed cases
Where niggas die everyday like their families deserve to urn those vases
See I pray for us and I pray for life
Cause you never know a casket price until you need a casket price

They say stay in school until you can't afford the education
They taught me to solve for X without reality in the equation
I hope I'm not coming off too embracive cause I always got love for you
But sometimes I feel that same love is for misguided fools
So I question why am I different?
'Cause when death comes knocking at my door it won't matter my position
See I never want my future kids to see what I had to see
But at the same time I want them to acknowledge you for that grit and tenacity
The double edge sword of repping you is a costly slice
But if they get to keep their lives let it be me caught up in your vice

See like, we gripping tools just to chase the cool
I remember when leaving you was the thing to do
But when you finally leave you start spreading rumors boo
How I'm too good for you and I switched sides up like a rubix's cube
See it's never that
So forgive me I wanted better and you asking why
I still got homies moving that white girl like a black lives matter ally
The nerve of these niggas talking I don't get the struggle
Like I wasn't there for all those counter productive huddles
I show them better way in return I'm getting nothing but rebuttals

But I'm blame you for the fake love you giving them you got them cuddled
With an ideology and a mentality that breeds death
Where the cops and paramedics the play role of the refs
I want to show them the world but they rather euro step into early grave
But be brave
What do you chose?
I can only pray they see the vision cause with wisdom comes age
'Cause even if I try to make you better you pull me into your toxic ways
You took Nip from us
You took Dolph from us
You took Pop us
You took L
You took Proof
We've grown so numb to empathizing with sleepless nights
So many names please don't forget the ones without the limelight

When is enough a enough when will it ever end
Then I realized the hardest truth that I inked from my pen
Something I wished I would've known in my adolescence
The difference between to understand vs the difference of acceptance
You don't want to change. You don't want to get the message
So it seems ones man's success is another man's death sentence
See Wu Tang told me along time ago to protect my neck and I did
Out the belly of the beast I live
And I rise up to say this
If it's by your hands know in my heart there's no tension
If it's a cop please let him face more then suspension
There's no rules to loving you that they'll never understand but it's all good
Cause I've accepted the fact that there's No Love In The Hood
