Born out of infirmity was how I came to be
An accident of nature and never meant to be
But oh how you were grateful though your tears fell down like rain
At one more chance of freedom and to take away the pain
Each day that I grew stronger the weaker you became
And as the years grew longer you were never quite the same
I watched your spirit soar as they tried to set you free
They said you were the strongest it was hard to disagree
I can see your light making shadows on the floor
I can see your light it's laid down on the shore
I can see your light it's flickering 'cross the bay
Now I only see your light if I close my eyes and pray
I remember still that morning as I walked in Autumn leaves
I couldn't shake the feeling that I had no right to grieve
Still I wake up haunted by the truth I can't ignore
The truth is that I'm grateful you're not suffering any more
Born out of infirmity was how I came to be
An accident of nature and never meant to be
But now I know my purpose I was born to help you live
I gave it all I had now there's no more l can give
I can see your light making shadows on the floor
I can see your light it's laid down on the shore
I can see your light it's flickering 'cross the bay
Now I only see your light if I close my eyes and pray
