God made a season for you
And like all seasons they must pass when they are due
Though your nest you had outgrew
It's not a sad thing it's just nature on the move
Each year a little taller
Each year my branches longer
The company comes and goes
With the weather
You were from another wood
Looking for a new neighborhood
And I was in the clearing
Counting stumps
You flew to my shoulder
And we began to talk
And one thing led to another
And your nest was in my arms
You were just the company
I needed in the aftershock
So I offered my shade
So you could learn to fly again
God made a season for you
And like all seasons they must pass when they are due
Though your nest you had outgrew
It's not a sad thing it's just nature on the move
Spring turned into Summer
We spent sunsets on the regular
So young and fresh
To think we'd stay the same
But nature had a way with us
New shoots around my roots came up
And visits to your nest came less and less
My arms had grown too long
And your nest began to fall
And my leaves had lost their grip
And covered the pieces that you left
We tried our best to replicate
The feelings of our Summer spent
But seasons don't go backwards
We must migrate through the chapters
God made a season for you
And like all seasons they must pass when they are due
Though your nest you had outgrew
It's not a sad thing it's just nature on the move
Goodbye old friend
Things will never be the same I know
I'll wave from here
As you fly by the places you will go
I'm not alone anymore
This forest floor is fuller than before
As seasons come and seasons go
I'm still here
