Would that I could drift above the clouds
To see all that lies beneath
The vast expanses reaching out to the horizon
The fingers of green and blue
Those grasping hands, outstretched
Spread across so small a frame
And then, to gaze above
To watch as the swarm of stars
Flies across boundless space
Time stands still
Eternity becomes a single moment
All that ever was, is, or will be
Is placed in the palm of my hand
A flickering flame
The breath of life
The light of countless souls
Their stories known only to me
And then, to wake
To see the blue of the ceiling above my bed
To know that it was never real
To feel the chill of early morning
As the first rays of sun peek through my window
Would that I could drift above the clouds
To see all that lies beneath
To sleep, perchance to dream
