Bailey Zimmerman - Religiously. The Album Lyrics

Bailey Zimmerman - Religiously. The Album Lyrics

Religiously

I went looking at pictures I didn't wanna see
They brought back memories
You look happy, I guess
Got the life that you wanted but it ain't with me
You would think by now that I wouldn't care
It's been a couple years
And yeah, I've had my share
Of other broken up hearts but I only shed real tears over ours

Now I'm in this cold bright light
And this don't even feel like life
'Cause I don't have the only woman who believed in me
Religiously (religiously)
And now I'm in the back of the church
Praying just to stop the hurt
'Cause I don't have the only woman who was there for me
Religiously (religiously)

Remember watchin' you play me our song on guitar
I thought I'd marry you
Act like I'm happier now but all of my friends know that ain't the truth
And lately life's been good to me
Mama's healthy and I'm helpin' out the whole family
Lot of people know my name, I made a little change
But that don't mean nothin'

'Cause now I'm in this cold bright light
And this don't even feel like life
'Cause I don't have the only woman who believed in me
Religiously (religiously)
And now I'm in the back of the church
Praying hard just to stop the hurt
'Cause I don't have the only woman who was there for me
Religiously (religiously)

You brought me to God and I put you through Hell
You were all about us, I was all about myself
What kind of man would lose a woman like that?
If my soul could be forgiven, I would give it all back

Now, I'm in this cold bright light
And this don't even feel like life
'Cause I don't have the only woman who believed in me
Religiously
And now I'm in the back of the church
Begging God just to stop the hurt
'Cause I don't have the only woman who believed in me
Religiously (religiously)
I ain't got the only woman who was there for me
Religiously

Warzone

Before this battlefield
We were on our way to better days
Rolling like a freight train
With no brakes
Into the future like we had it made

I can see the smoke
Rolling off your gun
And them lips
Tellin' me we're done
Sometime some of them shots, ya just can't outrun

When you're living in a war zone
With a heart full of bullet holes
And boarded up windows
We've been riding out this storm
For way too long
How we gonna call this house a home
Living in a war zone?

Before this battlefield
We were fighting on the frontlines
Now all that I can feel
Is this heart breaking on the other side

And I can see the smoke
Rolling off your tongue and
Them lips telling me we're falling outta love
Sometime some of them shots, ya just can't outrun

When you're living in a war zone
With a heart full of bullet holes
And boarded up windows
We've been riding out this storm
For way too long
How we gonna call this house a home
Living in a war zone?

Living in a war zone
With a heart full of bullet holes
And boarded up windows
We've been riding out this storm
For way too long
And are we gonna let this love run cold?
Living in a war zone

Fixn To Break

Oh
Oh
Oh
Oh

I'm pretty good with a hammer and a nail
I've been known to do it myself
There ain't much in this house that I can't fix
We been beat but it ain't broke yet
Got a few loose strings hangin' by a thread
Honey, I don't know how-much these hearts got left

Are we fixin' to break?
Are we fixin' to break?

Tell me somethin'
What's been on your mind?
Are you thinkin' 'bout runnin'?
'Cause I'm sittin' here losin' mine
And there ain't nothin'
You could say to me right now
To change the way I love you
But if it's up to you this time
Tell me what it is you're thinkin', shoot me straight
Are we fixin' to break?

Oh
Oh
Oh
Oh

Built this love up stone by stone
We both know we can't do it alone
We can build this house back up or we can break it down
Yeah, we can build this house back up or we can break it down

So tell me somethin'
What's been on your mind?
Are you thinkin' 'bout runnin'?
'Cause I'm sittin' here losin' mine
And there ain't nothin'
You could say to me right now
To change the way I love you
But if it's up to you this time
Tell me what it is you're thinkin', shoot me straight
Are we fixin' to break?
We fixin' to break?

We've been fightin' like hell and tellin' ourselves
Maybe we'd be better off with someone else

Are we fixin' to break?
Are we fixin' to break?
Are we fixin' to break?

Tell me somethin'
What's been on your mind?
Are you thinkin' 'bout runnin'?
'Cause I'm sittin' here losin' mine
And there ain't nothin'
You could say to me right now
To change the way I love you
But if it's up to you this time
Tell me what it is you're thinkin', shoot me straight
Yeah, I know that I might lose you, but either way
Are we fixin' to break?

Forget About You

I'm a wreck, I'm a mess
Girl, since you left, I confess getting over you feels so wrong
Forgive and forget
That's what they said I gotta do to get through the movin' on
Got one step right
The other step's holding on strong

But the talk of the pine trees
Girl, they remind me
Just how good it was back when your lovin' was mine
We were nineteen, chasing that lighting
We were Colorado high, didn't get a goodbye
Just a note on the fridge and them words that you said
Still stuck in my head like glue
Yeah, I forgive, yeah, I forgive
But I can't forget about you

Oh God knows I'm tryin' but I wanna rewind it
Back to the day, when ya had my back, before them plans fell through
Ain't no denying and girl I'd be lying
If I said I'm getting over you

The talk of the pine trees
Girl, they remind me
Just how good it was back when your lovin' was mine
We were nineteen, chasing that lighting
We were Colorado high, didn't get a goodbye
Just a note on the fridge and them words that you said
Still stuck in my head like glue
Yeah, I forgive, yeah, I forgive
But I can't forget about you

Those nights that we'd dance slow
Both bare feet on the dirt road
Didn't know what I was about to lose
Never thought it'd be you
Too good to be true

But the talk of the pine trees
Girl, they remind me
Just how good it was back when your lovin' was mine
We were nineteen, chasing that lighting
We were Colorado high, didn't get a goodbye
Just a note on the fridge and them words that you said
Still stuck in my head like glue
Yeah, I forgive, yeah, I forgive
But I can't forget about you
No, I can't forget about you
(I'm weak, I'm a mess)
(Girl, since you left, I confess)
No, I can't forget about you

Chase Her

Well, she was fighting for something steady
And I was fighting her all fours, and ready for
Anything that felt too heavy
Got damn good at leading her on

But now she's gone
I let her go without a second thought
Now I'm the only one that can't move on
Still wanting it, still I'm wondering

If I would have chased her
Would have just tried
Wouldn't have felt the sting of a goodbye
If I would have set aside a little more time
And a lot more pride, would she still be mine?
I should have known better
Should have made the last call over the phone better
Should have been a little bit more of a go getter
Would have saved myself from a whole lot of hurt
If I would have chased her

I wouldn't be kicking myself
'Cause we'd be busy kicking dust on a dirt road wherever the wind blows
Instead I'm in hell
Watching her run and run and run and run

'Cause now she's gone
I let her go without a second thought
Now I'm the only one that can't move on
Still wanting it, still wondering

If I would have chased her, would have just tried
Wouldn't have felt the sting of a goodbye
If I would have set aside a little more time
And a lot more pride, would she still be mine?
I should have known better
Should have made the last call over the phone better
Should have been a little bit more of a go getter
Would have saved myself from a whole lot of hurt
If I would have chased her

Ooh, no, no
If I would have chased her
Yeah, yeah

I shoulda known better
Now I'm all alone sipping something to forget her
Knowing that it's probably gonna take me forever
'Til then I'll still be wanting it, still wondering

If I would have chased her, would have just tried
Wouldn't have felt the sting of a goodbye
If I would have set aside a little more time
And a lot more pride, would she still be mine?
I should have known better
Should have made the last call over the phone better
Should have been a little bit more of a go getter
Would have saved myself from a whole lot of hurt
If I would have chased her

Ooh, no
If I would have chased her
Yeah, yeah
If I would have chased her

Fall in Love

I heard you moved out to South Carolina
Just like you always said we would
Packed your bags in that old 4Runner
That I bought you when things were good
I'm glad to see the stop sign didn't hit ya
Bring you back to your senses
Oh, it waved you gone, goodbye
Yeah, it waved you gone, goodbye

I heard you found yourself a brand new man
Put a rock on your finger
And he vowed you a second chance
Built a house right by the coast
That ocean view is beautiful
But baby, I just want you to know
He don't know you like I did
And money talks, but I ain't buyin'

'Cause love's a smoke ring
Wrapped around your finger
One second it's a blessin'
And the next it's already gone
A broken heart, I'm a walkin' testimony
My confession is a lesson
That I'm pourin' out in this song
Oh-whoa-whoa, oh-whoa-whoa
You don't wanna fall in love
Oh-whoa-whoa, oh-whoa-whoa
You don't wanna fall in love

I seen your mama walkin' out the county market
And I stopped to ask her how she's been
Said she's missin' ya
And tried to go convincin' ya
Not to settle down with him
She ain't wrong, the whole town knows it
You had a bed of roses
But girl, you couldn't walk that line
You can act like you're doin' fine

'Cause love's a smoke ring
Wrapped around your finger
One second it's a blessin'
And the next it's already gone
A broken heart, I'm a walkin' testimony
My confession is a lesson
That I'm pourin' out in this song
Oh-whoa-whoa, oh-whoa-whoa
You don't wanna fall in love
Oh-whoa-whoa, oh-whoa-whoa
You don't wanna fall in love

'Cause love's a smoke ring
Wrapped around your finger
One second it's a blessin'
And the next it's already gone
A broken heart, I'm a walkin' testimony
My confession is a lesson
That I'm pourin' out in this song
Oh-whoa-whoa, oh-whoa-whoa
You don't wanna fall in love
Oh-whoa-whoa, oh-whoa-whoa
You don't wanna fall in love

You Dont Want That Smoke

She's got the look
Damn right, she owns it
She'll break your heart in this bar and she knows it

She'll ask you for light
Keeps one in her pocket
She'll get ya just enough to get you walking
Right outside end of the night
Watching sparks fly from a Marlboro light

But you don't want that smoke
The kind that's in her past
She'll love you 'til the filter and leave you in the ash
Well, take it secondhand from a fool who knows
You think you're just taking a drag
But you're playing with the fire that'll burn you if you get too close
And you don't want that smoke

Yeah, she'll get you hooked, might even call you "baby"
But she's a one way ticket that drops you off at crazy
Yeah, she'll take your hand
Might even cloud your head
But if you breathe her in, you'll be breathing out an SOS

And you don't want that smoke
The kind that's in her past
She'll love you 'til the filter and leave you in the ash
Well, take it secondhand from a fool who knows
You think you're just taking a drag
But you're playing with the fire that'll burn you if you get too close
And you don't want that smoke
You don't want that smoke

Take it secondhand, I been her fool before
You think you're just taking a drag
But you're playing with the fire that'll burn you if you get too close

She's got the look
And I've got the lighter
And I'm drunk enough to bum off of her tonight

Won't be the first
Won't be the last
You can judge me all you want
But you can't say that
You don't want that smoke

Found Your Love

Marlboros and moonshine
Hell-bent on moonlight
Everything you hate 'bout this town
I was just a loose end
No plans, beat down broke man
Caught in a landslide going down

I was a reckless child
A dead end mile
Living my life on the run
I was a long lost soul
A twisted road
An ol' ramblin' heart with a gun
Never thought I'd hang it up
'Til I found your love

You changed the stars in my night sky
My path from the wayside
Everything I lost, yeah, you found
You took the pain from my soul
The chains off my bones
And made me the man I am now

I was a reckless child
A dead end mile
Living my life on the run
I was a long lost soul
A twisted road
An ol' ramblin' heart with a gun
Never thought I'd hang it up
'Til I found your love

I was just a desperado
A lead foot full throttle
Shot in the dark without hope

I was just a reckless child
A dead end mile
Living my life on the run
A long lost soul
A twisted road
An ol' ramblin' heart with a gun
Never thought I'd hang it up
Never thought I'd hang it up
'Til I found your love

Rock and A Hard Place

We've been swingin' and missin'
It ain't broke yet, but damn, it needs fixin'
Been a while since your kiss felt like kissin'
It's just different

We've been talkin' 'bout forever since we've been together
Somethin' 'bout a ring makes you think we're better off with
All this but we're caught in

Between a rock and a hard place
Red wine and mistakes
Tears rollin' down your face
When I walked out that door
And that's when I lost it
A midnight in Austin
Damn, I'm exhausted
What the hell's this all for?
Is this where it mends or it breaks?
Between a rock and a hard place

For the record, shit
Throwin' in the towel takes some effort
So I'd rather ride it out for better weather
Together

Between a rock and a hard place
Red wine and mistakes
Tears rollin' down your face
When I walked out that door
And that's when I lost it
A midnight in Austin
Damn, I'm exhausted
What the hell's this all for?
Is this where it mends or it breaks?
Between a rock and a hard place

We've been talkin' 'bout forever since we've been together
Something 'bout a ring makes you think we're better off with
All this but we're caught in

Between a rock and a hard place
Tears rollin' down your face
As I walked out that door
And that's when I lost it
Midnight in Austin
Damn, I'm exhausted
What the hell's this all for?
Is this where it mends or it breaks?
How much more of this can we take?

Other Side Of Lettin Go

Weatherman said there's a storm rolling in
And I'm checking my phone wondering where she's been lately
I've been going crazy

My new nine to five is sitting outside
Not getting over her, ain't for lack of trying daily
I've been going crazy
Well, maybe that rain will wash away my pain

I bet she's stuck in Colorado
While I'm strung out, missing her
I bet she's out somewhere with the wind in her hair
While I'm stuck here where we were
I see them taillights of that Bronco
Every time I close my eyes
But I can't sleep 'cause I'm hung up on goodbye
She's on the run, chasing the sun and I'm all alone
Stuck on the other side of letting go

Put my life on pause, with all that I lost
Guess that's the cost of holding onto heartbreak
Damn straight

And I did everything that I knew to do
To get you gone but what's the use?
'Cause to tell the truth, it's driving me insane

That she's stuck in Colorado
While I'm strung out missing her
I bet she's out somewhere with the wind in her hair
While I'm stuck here where we were
I see them taillights of that Bronco
Every time I close my eyes
But I can't sleep 'cause I'm hung up on goodbye
She's on the run, chasing the sun and I'm all alone
Stuck on the other side of letting go

Ain't had a missed call, just another sunset
Counting every day ever since she left
With this five by seven laying on my chest, making it hard to forget

That she's stuck in Colorado
While I'm strung out missing her
I bet she's out somewhere with the wind in her hair
While I'm stuck here where we were
I see them taillights of that Bronco
Every time I close my eyes
But I can't sleep 'cause I'm hung up on goodbye
She's on the run, chasing the sun and I'm all alone
But that porch light's on if you ever wanna come back home
Back to the other side of letting go

Pain Wont Last

Life around me's changing too fast
And you can't replace what's stuck in the past
And people you meet, they soon fade away
But if they're willing to leave don't beg them to stay

Life goes on with or without 'em
Only pain comes from thinking about 'em

Movin' on is the best way to go
When it feels like it's a one lane road
A broken path is long and it is dark
You can't see where to go when the flame won't spark
You're on the ground with scars from your past
You might be hurting now but the pain won't last
Pain won't last

Every day seems to be the same
And you can't see the sun through the pouring rain
No one to call when life gets tough
Feel so alone, man, I've had enough

Life goes on with or without 'em
Only pain comes from thinking about 'em

Movin' on is the best way to go
When it feels like it's a one lane road
A broken path is long and it is dark
You can't see where to go when the flame won't spark
You're on the ground with scars from your past
You might be hurting now but the pain won't last
Last, last, last

Movin' on is the best way to go
When it feels like it's a one-lane road
A broken path is long and it is dark
You can't see where to go when the flame won't spark
You're on the ground with scars from your past

Where It Ends

This is where it ends
I've been down a few broken roads that I'm tryin' to mend
But this is where it ends
And I'm breakin' down
You were lyin' when you said that you were tryin' to work things out
But now I'm broken down

Went to battle for you always
Fought for you on your worst days
Then you told me that you don't love me no more

You're the last thing that I thought I'd lose
All I ever wanted was to be loved by you
I let you back in and I gave you a second chance
And like a jet plane on a clear blue sky
Sun came shinin' down on all of your lies
I got too much pride to let that happen again
So this is where it ends

Had to bury all your memories
Couldn't see what everybody sees
Red flags said I should've walked out that door (out that door)

Went to battle for you always
Fought for you on your worst days
Then you told me that you don't love me no more

You're the last thing that I thought I'd lose
All I ever wanted was to be loved by you
I let you back in and I gave you a second chance
And like a jet plane on a clear blue sky
Sun came shinin' down on all of your lies
I got too much pride to let that happen again
So this is where it ends, ends, ends
Yeah, this is where it ends

You're the best thing that ever happened to me
You showed me what true love shouldn't be
I found myself the second I gave up on us (on us)

You're the last thing that I thought I'd lose
All I ever wanted was to be loved by you
I let you back in and I gave you a second chance (a second chance)

Gods Gonna Cut You Down

You can run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Sooner or later, God'll cut you down
Sooner or later, God'll cut you down

Go and tell that long tongue liar
Go and tell that midnight rider
Tell the rambler, the gambler, the back biter
Tell 'em that God's gonna cut 'em down
Tell 'em that God's gonna cut 'em down

Well, my goodness gracious, let me tell you the news
My head's been wet with the midnight dew
And I've been down on a bended knee
Talkin' to the man from Galilee
And he spoke to me in a voice so sweet
And I thought I heard the shuffle of an angel's feet
He called my name and my heart stood still
When he said, "John, go do my will"

So run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Sooner or later, God'll cut you down
Sooner or later, God'll cut you down

Well, you may throw your rock and hide your hand
Workin' in the dark against a fellow man
But as sure as God made black and white
What's done in the dark'll be brought to the light

So run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Sooner or later, God'll cut you down
Sooner or later, God'll cut you down

Tell that long tongue liar
Go and tell that midnight rider

Fadeaway

That flame blew out in a cross fade wind
And I don't know if it'll get lit again
Watched your taillights fade in a red sunset
And now I'm trying like hell to try and forget
That

It's broken, you're long gone
Everything that coulda been went wrong and
I tried, my best
To hold on to what I could but you just slipped
Right outta my fingertips
Right off of my lips
Swore everything would be okay
And you would never leave, you'd always stay
Then I watched you fade away

Nothing hurts worse than stovetop burn
After the first time, you'd think I'd learn
That it was always gonna end like this
With a fell short wish
And it can't be fixed 'cause

It's broken, you're long gone
Everything that coulda been went wrong and
I tried my best
To hold on to what I could but you just slipped
Right outta my fingertips
Right off of my lips
Swore everything would be okay
And you would never leave, you'd always stay
Then I watched you fade away
And then I watched you fade away

Yeah, it was always gonna end like this
With a fell short wish
And it can't be fixed 'cause

It's broken, you're long gone
Everything that coulda been went wrong and
I tried my best
To hold on to what I could but you just slipped
Right outta my fingertips
Right off of my lips

Get to Gettin Gone

Good Lord, we had a good run
Runnin' down dead-end streets
Two hearts like a loaded gun
Shootin' down stars and dive bar drinks
You said you love the wind, yeah, love to roll with it
It ain't a picket fence you're after
We used to be on the same damn page
Now it's like we're on two different chapters

So I'll get to gettin' gone
Get on my no-look-back, yeah
And like an old song
Fadin' off into radio static
We had it good, ain't no good time for goodbye
Don't you think it's about time?
That this life we've been livin', lips you've been kissin'
Tires that I'm sittin' on
Get to gettin' gone

Why waste another day, girl?
'Cause we ain't gettin' no younger
And that settle-down river's strong
It'll pull your wild dreams under
Your mama'd take a deep breath, say it's 'bout time you tell
That rolling stone you're rollin' with

To get to gettin' gone
Get on my no-look-back, yeah
And like an old song
Fadin' off into radio static
We had it good, ain't no good time for goodbye
Don't you think it's about time?
That this life we've been livin', lips you've been kissin'
Tires that I'm sittin' on
Get to gettin' gone

I'm a anywhere-but-here bound highway
You're a 'round-here long gravel driveway
But, oh, you know if I had it my way
The hometown girl in your heart
Would get to gettin' gone

Get to gettin' gone
Get on my no-look-back, yeah
And like an old song
Fadin' off into radio static
We had it good, ain't no good time for goodbye
Don't you think it's about time?

Is This Really Over?

I can't stand the thought of
Goodbye really being goodbye
This house can't get any colder
The way you slammed that door
And threw your car in drive
Never even looked over your shoulder

Is this really over?
'Cause I need some closure
And it's 10 AM and I'm still gettin' sober
Let's call it a bad night
Don't call it the last time
'Cause I feel that goodbye gettin' closer and closer
Is this really over? (Ooh)
Is this really over?

Yeah, we're gettin' pretty good at this
Should we settle down and call it quits?
I hate that I don't know if you're not comin' back
So I gotta ask

Is this really over?
'Cause I need some closure
And it's 10 AM and I'm still gettin' sober
Let's call it a bad night
Don't call it the last time
'Cause I feel that goodbye gettin' closer and closer
Is this really over? (Ooh)
Is this really over?

Haven't really heard our last song
Haven't really had our last dance
Have I really used up my last one more chance?

Is this really over?
'Cause I need some closure
And it's 10 AM and I'm still gettin' sober
Let's call it a bad night
Don't call it the last time
'Cause I feel that goodbye gettin' closer and closer
Is this really over? (Ooh) oh
Is this really over, over, over?

Can't stand the thought of
Goodbye really being goodbye
Is this really over? (Ooh)
