The Beach Boys are an American rock band, formed in Hawthorne, California in 1961. The group's original lineup consisted of brothers Brian, Dennis and Carl Wilson, their cousin Mike Love, and friend Al Jardine. Initially managed by the Wilsons' father Murry, the Beach Boys signed to Capitol Records in 1962.

The Beach Boys have often been called "America's Band". The group have had over eighty songs chart worldwide, thirty-six of them United States Top 40 hits (the most by an American rock band). -Wikipedia
Members:
Brian Wilson
Mike Love
Al Jardine
Bruce Johnston
David Marks
Name Origin:
They got their first recorddeal with Candix Records as "The Pendletones" (a play on a popular type of shirt worn by 60s surfers)

When copies of their first single, "Surfin'," arrived they were surprised to read"by The Beach Boys." They had never heard of the Beach Boys. After some calls they were told a young promotionworker named Russ Regan had changed the name. There was no money to reprint all the labels.

Quotes:
I like to be surrounded by harmonies and fullness and richness and vitality.

I think our society out here has become excessive in the way we spend too much money.

It just got to be too much of a circus and I wanted to put the music back in the show, so I created this idea of doing what I've called the b-sides.

It took me 29 years to finish that song. That's a typical Jardine move.

It's a coup by the GOP to grab the governorship to California to make this place a safe haven for George W. Bush in 2004. It's incredible when you think about it. The recall cost the state $100 million.

There are so many memories.

Vegetables is one of those unheralded and seldom heard tunes from the "psychedelic era" of the Beach Boys. We went through all these phases, just like all the other '60s bands, yet ours were somewhat more subtle.

We were like a traveling jukebox, and then we added cheerleaders to the jukebox and it started to look like an overly decorated Christmas tree.

We're somehow confined to our name, the Beach Boys; it confines you to a certain image, but there's so much there that's so rich.
