Well I wonder what she'd have to say
About the big to do we made
In the days that followed after she'd gone home
In spite of all the times I tried to say
Just what I thought of Your higher ways
I know that she is right where she belongs
But it would be quite the understatement
To say that it took us by surprise
We may never understand the wisdom of Your plan
But one thing we know is this was not goodbye, oh no
But there's so much going on down here
And many milestones we have cleared
I wonder if she sees or knows about them
And I wonder if she's smiling through
The way things look from her view
I'd like to think she's cheering us from Heaven
I wonder if she's got folks up there laughing
Because she's still got us cracking up down here
Will our children know her well through the stories that we tell
And by the fingerprints she left down here
Does she know that her two boys
Managed to get married
To some girls that's both out of their leagues
Does she know that her daughter
Got to know what it feels like
To have some fella sweep her off her feet
Oh, and I wish that we could see her
With all of these grandbabies
Who I pray she will meet some day
And I wonder if she has become
An honorary grandma
To unwanted babies who have come her way
It's hard to think of all she might be missing
Which might be why it's hard to understand
But it's in those moments when
Life just don't make sense
That we keep clinging to Your unseen hand
And I wonder if there will be a day
I don't miss her like crazy
As I recall the things she would say and do
And I wonder what I would tell her
If I knew she would be leaving
Though no amount of words will ever do
But I'm thankful for the memories
That we all share together
I'm even thankful for the tears we've cried
But most of all I'm thankful
That Mama loved Jesus
I'm thankful for the legacy she left behind
I'm thankful that we'll all be reunited
I'm thankful that our story is not through
It's a good thing we'll be free
For all eternity
'Cause we've got lots of catching up to do
Jesus please tell Mama we'll see her soon
We'll see her soon
