Catfish and the Bottlemen - The Ride Lyrics

7

Larry call a load of smoke in I wanna lose a couple days
We've probably never struggled coping but I never want to
Promise again that I would call her
Forget the time because I'm 7 hours behind
It's probably good I didn't call though but I always want to

I'd beg you but you know I'm never home
I'd love you but I need another year alone
I've tried to ignore it every time you phone
But I never come close

I don't think through things, I never get time cause I don't think things through

Larry call a load of smoke in I wanna disappear for days
We've probably never struggled sleeping but I never want to
Promise again that I would call her
Forget the time because I'm 7 hours behind
It's probably good I didn't call though but I always want to

I'd beg you but you know I'm never home
I'd love you but I need another year alone
I've tried to ignore it every time you phone
But I never come close

I don't think through things, I never get time cause I don't think things through
[x2]

I'd beg you but you know I'm never home
I'd love you but I need another second to myself
I've tried to ignore it every time you phone
But I never come close

I'd beg you but you know I'm never home
I'd love you but I need another year alone
I've tried to ignore it every time you phone
But I never come close

Twice

Maybe I don't mind just getting high in mine
Shouting over music with a friend who's like a brother
Because if I get time I'd just regret most shit

From every hangover my head feels
To every ex I didn't treat right
To every Monday I called in sick
To every argument I let slide

Christ, I ain't ever going back to thinking straight
Twice! Twice, it brung me down but it's the last time

Maybe I'll grow tired of you bitchin' all the time
Cause when you love the way you're living it get's hard to fret about much
Because if I got time I'd just regret most shit

From every hangover my head feels
To every ex I didn't treat right
To every Monday I called in sick
To every argument I let slide

Christ, I ain't ever going back to thinking straight
Twice! Twice, it brung me down but it's the last time
Christ, I ain't ever going back to thinking straight
Twice! Twice, it brung me down but it's the last time

From every hangover my head feels
To every ex I didn't treat right
To every Monday I called in sick
To every argument I let slide

Christ, I ain't ever going back to thinking straight
Twice! (yeah twice) Twice, it brung me down but it's the last time

Soundcheck

Maybe I don't act the way I used to
Because I don't feel the same about you
In fact, that's a lie, I want you

I raced through soundcheck
Just to meet you on your fag break
And you convinced me
To put life aside and want you

If only for the sake of it I could chill you out
And drive us through the night to your sister's
You can fall asleep with my jacket as a cover
And wake up just to join me to smoke

I wanted everything at once
Until you blew me out my mind
Now I don't need nothing

Maybe I don't act the way I used to
Because I don't feel the same that I did
The fact that I lie because I want you

And if only for the sake of it I could chill you out
And drive us through the night to your sister's
You can fall asleep with my jacket as a cover
And wake up just to join me to smoke

I wanted everything at once
Until you blew me out my mind
And now I don't need nothing
[x2]

We'll be talking about your background
And how it never left you much
Because you grew up in a small town
You'll appreciate it more
When you're done figuring your life out
And everything's fine
[x2]

I raced through soundcheck
Just to meet you on your fag break
And you convinced me
To put life aside and want you

I wanted everything at once
Until you blew me out my mind
And now I don't need nothing

Postpone

Postpone it
Tell them life's got you
Take time off
Tell them someone needs you
Tell them "all work does is bides you a year"

Before you get out of here

To a place that don't sleep
And the pubs won't shut early
And Your ex'll never call

From the minute you regret it to the minute that you let it go
To the minute you get fed up of tryna please everyone
And the minute you forget that you can pick it up like nothings changed

You feel like it all starts falling
And you feel like your luck needs changing
I'll be there when it all falls

Sleep through all the rigmarole
Your room-mates cause every time they fall
Tell them "all love does is bides you a year"
Before you get out of here

To a place that don't sleep
And the pubs won't shut early
And your ex'll never call

Anything

It gets difficult to talk when you nearly deafen me cause you start laughing
If it means that we get through
And though you'll mix up every detail of every story that you're ever gonna tell me
If it means that we get through
Y'know I never wanna trouble you when you're working so I always try to wait
If it means that we get through
And when we drink it just gets funnier and to be honest I don't mind us drunk
If it means that we get through

I won't smoke if you don't no more
Cause I know you hate the taste of it
I don't wanna picture our first born
If you've stopped discussing names with me
But if it means that we get through then you know I'm up for anything

Y'know I always try to settle you when I'm away cause we struggle sometimes
If it means that we get through

I won't smoke if you don't no more
Cause I know you hate the taste of it
I don't wanna picture our first born
If you've stopped discussing names with me
But if it means that we get through then you know I'm up for anything

Anything you need at anytime at all I want you to phone me
Everything you feel on every night alone is because you need me

Glasgow

It's good that you're home
It's good to spend a night without him checking my phone for you baby
We talk about life as she caught me up on drinks in no time

Oh, before you know we'll be falling in drunk and I'll be letting you know

When you wrap me around your fingers baby
And you make me do that shit I never do
And as I pick you up on Sauchiehall street
I know I want you to myself again

That bar that you loved
Lock us in and let us keep on singing out lungs on there bar stools
On the walk back yours you made me fall in love with Glasgow

Oh, before you know I'll be carrying you over the threshold

When you wrap me around your fingers baby
And you make me do that shit I've never done
And as you prop me up on Sauchiehall street
I know I want you to myself again

Oxygen

She's got her own trajectory
She leaves my heart 11 degrees
I see her eyes reflecting me
I see her lifestyle affecting me

When I go round
I lose a night
She tends to obfuscate
When it's black and white
It's like she puts love to the back of her mind
Then rips it out again
When she's back at mine

She says "Oxygen's overrated
I don't even need to breathe"
She's got a tank full of highs and a mind that never sleeps

I loved you then
I love you now
So make me laugh
For an hour
Then rip me off
High as a cloud
And leave that taste
In my mouth

She says "Oxygen's overrated
I don't even need to breathe"
She's got a tank full of highs
And a mind that never sleeps
"Oxygen's overrated
I don't even need to breathe"
She's got a tank full of highs
And a mind.
That never.
Sleeps

She says "Oxygen's overrated
I don't even need to breathe"
I've got a tank full of highs
And a mind that never sleeps"
"Oxygen's overrated
I don't even need to breathe"
She's got a tank full of highs
And a mind that never sleeps

Emily

New York surprise me
21 and I need something
To pick me up out of
The company I run with
Emily just phoned for me to smoke with her
And on her furniture
Discuss how love has been

I must admit I think I lost my way a bit
Cause 6 days in I swear I lost my baby
But then I wrote two tunes that...

Dragged me out from nowhere
Paid for all my cigarettes
And whatever I took to keep you off my mind

New York surprise me
22 and I need something
To keep me inside of
This company I run with
Emily just phoned for me to smoke with her
And on her furniture
Discuss how love has been

I must admit I've been known to lose my way a bit
And 6 days in is where I lost my patience
But then I wrote two tunes that...

Red

Does he meet you with heart shaped balloons
Offer you everything and never pull through
Does he love what you've done with the place?

Does he take you the Liquid Rooms after work
Just to unwind you but then goes and makes it worse
Can he do what I do for you?

I've not stopped thinking this shit since I come away

Hey?
How about I change?
How about you look at me the same? Hey?
How about I change?
How about you love me again?

Does he assure you at 4 in the morning
That you just haven't seen his good side yet
Does he love what you've done with the place?

Does he take you the Liquid Rooms after work
Does he join you on the tables baby
Can he do what I do for you?
I've not stopped thinking this shit since I come away

Hey?
How about I change?
How about you look at me the same? Hey?
How about I change?
How about you love me the again?

Heathrow

Love her from the get go
Pick her up from Heathrow
Whenever she needs me

Watch her on the West End
Pepper up her best friends
Whenever she needs me

She was a different league
When I was nothing much

Meet her when the tour's up
Hug her like her Mother would
Whenever she needs me

Snog her in the kitchen
Dance with her to Lemonworld
Whenever she needs me

She was a different league When
I was nothing much

Outside

We let them knock like crazy 'cause I'd not seen her in months
She knew how to save me for the craic though, carried on
I know I've pushed boundaries sometimes but she knows she's worse I've missed this, I was bound to

I just came along for the ride
And I tried my best to keep away from you
But you've just stepped off of a flight
And now you beg for my company
'Cause y'know I'll give it you all

Tell your sister to wait

'Cause there's no-one in the life I knew that got through to me
But when you talk about nothing, you tend to lose me
'Cause there's nothing in the life I knew that got through to me
But when you scream about nothing, that's when you lose me
I used to carry you through town
You used to smother me in lippy
Now if we ever get an hour together it's like I'm on the outside

We let them talk behind us 'cause I'd not seen her in months
They know how to find us for the craic though, carry on
I know I've pushed boundaries at times but she's just as bad
I've missed this, I was bound to

I just came along for the ride
And I tried my best to keep away from you

Tell your sister to wait
