How can I ever thank you for the cross?
Where Heaven's champion gave himself for us
While masses gathered far as eyes could see
The humble King laid down his life for me
On sinners hill, nailed to a barren tree
They hung the very one who'd set them free
Blood from his head, as tears flowed from his eyes.
You paid the debt to ransom back my life
Condemned and arraigned
While soldiers mocked in vain
In Silence he stayed
For the curse He came to break
How Can I ever thank you for the cross?
His final breath would rumble earth and sea
The King of Heaven gave his life for me
In Joseph's tomb, the dwelling of his grave
The heavy stone has now been rolled away
And the grave where he lay
Was a temporary space
Death would not remain
Our God has won the day!
