Soft light shadows reveal the creases distant memories resemble a thesis
On what you thought of all the way back then fanciful dreams no desire to ground them
Ponder might haves but it seems so strange for something that is so resistant to change
And some call it one thing some call it another when does a precious thing turn into clutter
As a car drives past the shadow it casts catches my eye it's gone in a flash but impressions can last and who knows when they might
So quickly things drop out of your mind when they're out of your sight yet somehow there's more in the day but I notice them more in the night
As shadows wash over the floor the light of the tiniest candle burns brighter than ever before
Tomorrow the wind's gonna come and blow out that candle again each night without fail the trees bow to the gale and there's nobody left in the end
But we'll chase out those shadows again
