Someday, if things go well, I'm going to write the nothing is wrong blues
Long after a certain drama queen we all know will have stopped dominating the news
I just won't know how to negotiate these days that are so long
It's not easy singing the blues when there's nothing wrong
When the soul troller came to town, we really got to know our neighbors more
Now, though, they're back the way they were, which is actually kind of a bore
Life was interesting when that man put on his apprentice show
Why he could do anything; there was nothing he did not know
He was the epitome of perfection; he was the end
So fantastically great that we'd never need vote again
Who was going to take care of all decisions automatically
And forget all that nonsense about rank democracy
His was a vision of Aryan Supremacy and a divine autocracy
To replace 250 years of constitutional republican democracy
And there we were about to sign on the dotted line
And then we had an epiphany some said was fine
For all the shortcomings of democracy, there is one nice feature
You can always say no thank you, next please, to the creature
Who would con us with his gimmicks that sort of resemble gold
But is really a bag of tricks played upon fools young and old
And so here I am again singing the nothing is wrong blues
Which will last a long time or until I go look at the news.
