Mother's on the telephone
I heard William's voice
He was on a scary path
He said he wouldn't last
I told mother "Let me go
I wanna find him so I can bring him back home"
She's in anger "If you go
You are not welcome back here anymore
Don't bring back that mess of a boy"
It's as usual
William William William takes the road
He's gone away all alone
In his own show
He's been struggling a long, long time
And nothing solves
I put a jacket on
Went out the door
I told everybody who I was looking for
Some gave signs, some told lies
Down at the bar, "do you recognize my brothers eyes?"
He was down, but I think I saw him in the crowd
He took and sold
He carried the load
William William William takes the road
Out on the waves I saw him go
On his road alone
I waved and shout and he turned around
And I saw his smile
William William William takes the road
