It took three gallons of paint
Just to cover all the stains
As she pushed the roller over all the patched holes and the pain
She knew some mistakes could never be erased
Seemed like he was angry from the day he was born
Arriving in this world like a storm
A heart full of fury, a soul sad and forlorn
She loved him, she fought him, now she mourns
Was it the way that she raised him
The way that nature made him
The things she did or didn't do
So many questions she can't get answers to
Like who he was and would have been
And what could have been
If he'd just made it through
It took three long and lonely nights
The color she chose was Timeless White
With each brushstroke she cried and tried to make it look all right
In the end she sighed ... and turned out the light
