There's a tree God planted on a hill
With only one purpose to fulfill
To grow up wide and tall
And be a shelter for all
Who dare to dream beneath its boughs
And that tree just kept growing all along
For a hundred years it waited for its song
It watched a road come through
And then a town as it grew
Until it stood beside a home
Then the dreamers, they would sit beneath
And talk all through the night
Their hopes for the future, the plans for their lives
They left behind their mark, a heart drawn on its silver skin
And lived with all the passion of their youth
They found a place, where dreams take root
Then came the sun, then came the rain
As the leaves sang a whispering refrain
Then came the heat, then came the chill
But the tree that God planted on a hill
It just goes on. The dream goes on
Now the tree that God planted with a view
Will see another hundred years of dreamers through
As generations pass
Their dreams will always last
Forever placed deep within it roots
Til one night the tree that stands so grand
Will face a storm that it cannot withstand
Its job on Earth complete
It had lived its destiny
A place to dream, a place to plan
But even as God sent the breeze that brought the old man down
He lifted up a seed, then placed it gently on the ground
In a soft and fertile field just a few miles down the road
He gave that little seed a purpose too
To be a place, where dreams take root
Then came the sun, then came the rain
As the leaves sang a whispering refrain
Then came the heat, then came the chill
But the tree that God planted on a hill
It just goes on. The dream goes on
