Diatribe The Phantom Stranger - Intro: Ad Nauseam Lyrics

I am a poor wayfaring stranger
I'm traveling through this world of woe

Yo
Here I am again
Phantom Stranger
Formally known as
Same as it ever was
Caught in some kind of daydream

I used to be a torture poet
Then I worked with homeless
Now I'm more grown up
Looking for a donut
Used to have a crew and felt alone
But now that my friends are dead
I'm sort of social
Normal
Almost boring
Like being born in North Dakota
I've been a suspect, attorney, and worthy of mention
Judgment, redemption, mercy, and vengeance
Held in contempt
I've been sentenced to death by a jury of henchmen
Hell bent on destroying my rep
But I've been resurrected
Reborn with perspective
But they've been ignoring my lectures
And hitting snore on my records
So they forced me to deploy all my weapons
Never in my life did I expect I'd make enemies
Attempting to be better in forging friendships
But I'm at war in the trenches
With the world, but even more my reflection
Swirling in an endless circle of questions

I can get defensive or accept it
I guess I deserve the attention
I guess I should address the constant gnawing
Since they all keep jawing and want a response

Might as well break the fourth wall
And address the audience head on
Where do I start?
The kids a phenomenon
With a predilection prediction
I've written atomic bombs
I'm dropping on
These dimwitted automatons

They keep talking on and on, like we got a problem
I'm the opposite of all these frauds
But they all up on me
Like magnesium and oxygen's ionic bond
Ain't no need to posture
But if you wanna brawl
I ain't playing possum dog

I'm the headlines
You're anonymous posting in the comment blogs
I'm so sick of it
I could vomit from the nausea
Honest to God
After all this I promise I'll stop
But these are all of my thoughts
Ad Nauseam

Just a poor wayfaring stranger
Traveling through this world of woe
I am a poor wayfaring stranger
I'm traveling through this world of woe

Why have you brought me here
You sure it was me
Maybe it was this place that called you

Who are you
Just a passing stranger
Maybe a phantom from a dream
Trying to help you understand the things you already know

You know, some of these old cypress can live to be a thousand years old
Can you imagine the things that they've seen in that time
You've seen some things out here too, haven't you
I've seen ghosts

That's one way to think of it
Perhaps there's another way
Memories held by the trees

And the green, it connects them all together
The green
What you're seeing are memories of events that they've witnessed over the centuries
You listen close enough, they'll tell you stories you won't even believe

But why
What is the purpose of showing me all of this death
They're warning you
There's danger here

For someone you know
Danger from the past
Returning
Coming soon
