Democracy offers the possibility of infinite corruption
Leaders promising benefits to the electorate
If they are only Returned to power again
It takes a great deal of discipline
Institutional building
And tradition to make a democracy incorruptible
Of course, No democracy isn't
It was Thanksgiving
Then a thanks for giving us all the banks and rivers
We planted a flag like it was just discovered
Cause these animals are savages we put em in cages
That we called reservations
After signing some treaties
With disappearing ink, knowledge of the water so we put em in the sink
We had an opportunity for peace in a community but viewed em as the primitive limited missing link
Little did we know that they practiced a cultured that would keep us far from the brink
Force their kids to go to school is what we chose
Now their native tongue and ways are broken
Their fathers can't understand words that spoke
Unable to pass down traditions or lessons
Each generation is more disconnected
And westerners said that they'd keep them protected
But all that they're left with is
We have given ourselves over so completely to selfishness
Outta of the food chain but in the loop o' liability with or without abilities to hold a Bible or rifle
Just another gear in the cycle
World wide thinking needed for planetary survival
Water protectors, they were condemned
Think about it, it doesn't make sense because (doesn't make sense)
Resources exist without us
We cannot exist without them
Everything's bought in a store (bought in a store)
And based off supply and demand ('ply and demand)
It's like we forgot at the core
That we still live off of the land
Soils are turning to sand, oil has already peaked
But inside the dirt and ourselves we dig deep
To find the last Droplets of hope and relief and a moment of a ease
But the moment has passed cause we're nearing demise
Each day we're looking for things we can't find
Suppressing effects and ignoring the signs
H2O tainted we pay it no mind even though that's precisely what fuels humankind
Stab mother nature we do it for wealth
We need to wake up and accept the fact that by destroying the Earth we're destroying ourselves
Disgraced, displaced, exiled...
We think that we're on top, so we're going down
