Enrique Holmes - Josiah's Story (Live) Lyrics

I found out that good things happen
Bad things happen to good people
Bad things do happen to good people
That's why the bible tells us to not get weary

Why would a good person get weary
Because sometimes it seems as if
What you're giving you're not getting
Somebody else, just grab it by faith
Don't get weary, in well doing
Cause in due season, what you gon do
You gon reap, if you don't faint.

And so, speaking of good people
I have a brother for 16+ years of covenant friendship
My brother Philip Louis Saint

Phil used to keep me out of fights
Now he armor bearing me today, Jesus christ

And his lovely wife Christina, Where is Christina
Bad things happen to good people

Me and the Micah Stampley sung a song that says
Said that "my God does all things well"
It didn't feel well. My family, went through
We're still going through
We're making it through one of the roughest seasons
And things that we ever experienced
My sister carried my nephew, who was me and Briona's God baby, Josiah.
For nine months,
And the Lord saw fit to bring him home to Him
But he didn't leave without saving her life

Unbeknownst to her, there was a blood clot in her body
And Josiah took it so that she wouldn't have to

Here's the thing Dr. Bynaum, while she was in it
She didn't understand it because it took about two weeks for the autopsy to come back

So in that waiting period that me and
Taylor was singing about "what you're gonna do until
God gives you the why? Can you still worship Him"

We found out that news that Josiah was so much like his father
Phil would literally take a bullet for anybody that he loves
And his son inherited that
So we wanted to find a way to
Honor the legacy of my nephew Josiah.

I asked my Uncle Murph, William Murphy, Can y'all make some noise

We need y'all to stand on this song when we do it
But I asked him if he could come and help me lift this song up
Because I didn't know that around this time last year
That God would see fit to take my friend, one of my best friends
She would have been up here,
Brittany Hegwood

This that covenant that we've been talking about all night long
When I was doing my first live recording, Pastor Tasha called me

I was in the break room at the bank. She said, Rique, are you alone
God just told me to tell you that everything that you need
He's going to give it to you day by day

And so when I was walking back to my cubicle
I said, day by day, day by day
It will get better day by day

And I wasn't gonna record that song because
Tasha literally gave me that word two days before the recording
The day before the recording, who was there Some of y'all was there

Day before the recording I said, Brittany, just come sing this verse
I wrote it on my way to church, and Brittany sung it so well

I said, Let's just sing it tomorrow
If it goes over well, it goes over well, as soon as
Britney started singing, the crowd went, wild

And so that song got me through that moment and through that season
Day by day and it's been getting so many of you guys
So many testimonies through your rough moments
That the promise is that it will get better when yall

Day by.. Day by day

And so my Uncle, the Bishop of the Dream Center Church of Atlanta, William Murphy, come on.
I need y'all to get on your feet! Some of y'all snuck in for free. Come on!

I love my uncle. He's a ride or die

He was Britney's, is Britney's pastor, he pastored her.
And so it's just so befitting that that my uncle sings this song with me

When my brother first went to the hospital to find out,
Bishop you didn't even know about this part of it, so I'm sorry

My brother sent me a voice memo of Josiah's heartbeat
So the beat of this song is going to be Josiah heartbeat
And the Lord told me this, that as long as music is being played in the earth,
Josiah will impact the nations forever
Can yall just clap your hands for the legacy of Josiah Lewis Saint and Brittany Hegwood? Come on
