Evan - Can't Do Lyrics

Evan - Can't Do Lyrics

I've found as I get older, I can look into things moreover
What the average 6 or 7-year-old mind could discover
I came to understand hubris at a younger age
And thanks to Jimmy Neutron, also bacteriophage
By age 9 and 10, they told me not to play pretend
So I just did all that they asked and learned to comprehend
Now I've gotten to a point where I see things deep
But no one told me how this ledge was deftly steep
In Austin and with Autism
My worry was wisdom
It's all a part of growing up, they said, "We all get 'em."
But I don't understand, if they want me to be a man
I wonder why must I obscure these parts of who I really am?

I know all of Abe's kids equal about what God gave me in wit
I know, but what am I supposed to do with all of it?

I'd say I need help, but I don't how to yelp
I can't shake this thing I feel within myself
There used to be not a thing I couldn't do
Please somebody help, I'm worried that I, that I, that I, I can't do

I've found that when I dance, I'm not shifting with my own stance
My head and spirit's gone cold, gimme Zicam
I get so frustrated, I feel to die or cry, and
My mind, it seems against me, I wonder why, man?
When I was younger, I could keep it up with MJ
Back then, before I thought to think about or worry
I'm less flexible, my moves are so robotic
But worry doesn't break me, I ain't turning to narcotics
But what to do about all this anxiety?
Like chains wrapped around my torso; why I can't speak
These butterflies, they keep mi stomach inside, I think
I think too much and subsequently, oh, and, uh... I think I mean 'and thus,' I'm afraid to go out and do anything
Mmmh! Outta pocket cuz I'm anxious
I wanna be known, not famous

I know that God gave me as many gifts as he gave Jimi riffs
I know, but what am I supposed to do with all them?

I'd say I need help, but I don't how to yelp
I can't shake this thing I feel within myself
There used to be not a thing I couldn't do
Please somebody help, I'm worried that I, that I, that I, I can't do

Guess he was right about
I Guess he was right about this
When I assimilate with the Earth
These grown thoughts befall my gifts
Ask me to draw a flower bird
I worry, and say that I draw ships
I guess this is growing up; gist
A lifetime of, "God, I can't do this!"

I'd say I need help, but I don't how to yelp
I can't shake this thing I feel within myself
There used to be not a thing I couldn't do
Please somebody help, I'm worried that I, that I, that I, I can't do
