My house used to have a mudroom
That's the last place I saw you
Kicking dirt and dodging your poop
Leave my clothes in the mudroom
Getting home from going out to eat
I turn the knob and you see me
We lock eyes but you look through me
I wish I would have foreseen
Cause I know now
What do I know now
That I didn't know before
I left my lunchbox on the floor
And we did all that we could do
Filled a cup and poured it over you
We hoped that you would come to
But you just laid in the mudroom
Now that place is just a hallway
Where my coat and my thoughts hang
They'll stay there everyday
But next time I'll anticipate
Cause I know now
What do I know now
That I didn't, I didn't know before
I left my lunchbox on the floor
