Flight of the Conchords is a New Zealand-based comedy band composed of Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement. The duo's comedy and music became the basis of a BBC radio series and then an American television series, which premiered in 2007 on HBO.

McKenzie and Clement were flatmates at Victoria University of Wellington, where they were studying film and theatre before forming "Flight of the Conchords" in 1998. -Wikipedia
Members:

Bret McKenzie

Name Origin:
Bret said he had a dream about those heavy metal V-shaped guitars all flying in formation like a flock of birds. They reminded him of the Concorde (the supersonic jet plane), so they came up with "Flight of the Concordes".

They then decided to add a pun and make it Con"chord", a sort of tribute to the "Beat"les. (Or possibly to avoid any trademark/legal action from the Concorde manufacturer)

Quotes:
"We're New Zealand's fourth most popular guitar-based digi-bongo acapella-rap-funk-comedy folk duo",

"We're now the almost award-winning fourth-most-popular folk duo in New Zealand."

You're so beautiful, like a tree or a high-class prostitute.
-Jemaine Clement

I'm not cryin'. It's just been raining... on my face.
-Jemaine Clement

You're so beautiful you could be a part time model, but you'd probably have to keep your regular job.
-Jemaine Clement

They're turnin' kids into slaves just to make cheaper sneakers
But what's the real cost 'cause the sneakers don't seem that much cheaper
Why are we still payin' so much for sneakers when you got them made by little slave kids?
What are your overheads?!
-Jemaine Clement
