She rose to prominence after her 2018 song "Beef FloMix" and its 2019 follow up, "In the Party" reached virality on social media platforms including TikTok, also receiving respective gold certifications by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
Both songs would become issued as lead singles for Carter's debut mixtape, Ho, Why Is You Here? (2020), which was released to critical acclaim and marked her first entry—at number 76—on the Billboard 200, also receiving placement on Rolling Stone's "200 Greatest Hip Hop Albums of All Time" list in 2022.
She was also nominated for Best New Artist at the 2020 BET Hip Hop Awards.
In July 2022, she released her debut album You Still Here, Ho?, which saw similar critical reception despite failing to chart worldwide.
