Frank Knight - The Ethics Lyrics

[ Featuring Chuck LaWayne ]

[Frank Knight]

As I sit in a session reminiscing on my lessons
That manifested excellence that built me in oppression
For survival through the stressing in a town of recklessness
Where many bodies got they head left neck less quick
All for a necklace lift from the prideful and negligent
We was hell-bound hell raised with moms who was heaven sent
2 L's up, I ain't infected with being defective
But now knowing trauma's genetic I'm reflective
I'm reminded of a time in Brooklyn
Kissing mom on the forehead for her fine cooking
Then out the door dash booking with a hunger that you couldn't
Understand unless you was there...
I seen Wayne in front the building chilling so I dapped him on the real end
We was building talking about the hood and who got killed then
Grown men issues we was feeling like we wasn't young children
Still then we was building scheming trying to make a major killing
Sick of being broke and broken from the pain we ain't cope with
Back then Mike and Mike was folking, Yayo Plan and Vlad was loc'n
That's before black was rolling with white like a token
And the streets fear tested you like Joe Rogan
I ain't joking Mary we was toting feeling sad and hopeless
So hustling was kind of viewed as the magnum opus
We was good home kids with very greedy motives
Unstable like shook sodas back when bush was POTUS
But back to the story right greens he was selling right
Like next I'm selling white, yeah selling white
Lost in the blackness trying to get up out this hellish life
Hot summer cold world, so I want hella ice
These the common ghetto dreams we politced in broad day
And just a couple steps far from our NYCHA hallway
Where they'll turn you to a show and play you like a Broadway
We seen a shady figure travel from a long way
A man with fiendish features limping like a ugly creature
With a dirty used to be white but now brown t-shirt
And stained ripped blue jeans rushing like his knee hurt
Stressing like he need work in dirty creased sneakers
I was looking skeptical like, yo who the heck is dude
Chill Wayne don't let that shady nigga next to you
Cause I ain't trust entrance and I don't trust his exit move
But still Wayne served him, like a reckless dude
I opened up my yellow bag of M&M peanuts like don't be nuts
Don't you think it's weird cuz that you sell green stuff
But he came with fiend lust, sweating mean stuff
Then next thing you know... the D's pulled up
Two hopped out the blank truck with the mean mug
They searched Wayne and me they found all his weed
They took my M&M's and poured them all in the street
Put Wayne in the V and came back for me
Till screams from the voice of Joyce shook the boys cuffing
Leave them boys alone they don't do nothing
They let me go, but Wayne they handcuffed them
I walked away bugging like I told him he was dumbing
Now maybe that lesson I kind of learned from it
Not that day still headed the same greed way hey
To Pink Houses to invest in that freeway yay
Dealing I ain't proud of it I don't think nothing of it
But thank God cause the next week I was done from it
And if you heard I Kno3, you know why yo
We left them D blocks to dodge those locks no lie though
I'm the real Franklin from Brooklyn I been around snowfall
But I'm for young'n's who hustle shoveled through the snow storm
