That old house was only, six miles from town
Seemed like a million miles away
Four kids raised up, dirt poor on a farm
Only went to town, every other Saturday
And my old man he'd park that old ford
Across from the Courthouse, in front of the grocery store
We could not wait cause he'd buy us all ice cream
And he'd say Sometimes Simple can be a good thing
Sometimes Simple can be a good thing
That's what Daddy always said
A little bit of love goes a long long ways
We never realized how good it was way back then
He'd say don't miss one day without Jesus
And don't ever be afraid to dream
But you don't have to dream for the big things in life
Cause Sometimes Simple can be a good thing
I never thought that that I'd ever miss those old times
Mama let us sleep out in the yard
Daddy would tell stories about spiders and snakes
And we'd all end up back on the front porch
We loved our games and Daddy loved checkers
But little sister would win and we still think Daddy let her
Big brother actin' silly, he was always trying to sing
Daddy would grin and say
Sometimes Simple can be a good thing
Sometimes Simple can be a good thing
That's what Daddy always said
A little bit of love goes a long long ways
We never realized how good it was way back then
He'd say don't miss one day without Jesus
And don't ever be afraid to dream
But you don't have to dream for the big things in life
Cause Sometimes Simple can be a good thing
If I could ever go back, I'd want it just the same
Cause Sometimes Simple can be a good thing
