Just sit right back now
I'm gonna tell you little bit about the light at the end of the tunnel blues
It's a long way from what anybody wants
But it ain't the kind of thing that anybody gets to choose
Well I was sittin and poutin regrettin and frettin the doubts runnin round in my brain
Felt like quittin the grind I was losing my mind in a maze of confusion and pain
And the light at the end of the tunnel that was comin at me was more than a train
It was the boredom of whoring myself out to soulless people again and again
And the trick of it was there would be no applause
No effect from the cause and nobody (nobody) nobody (nobody) nobody makin it rain
Wishin I had it made making that lemonade jumping on handgrenades
Rainin on my parade never could make the grade watchin my passions fade
It was all pointless and shitless and joyless and quickly got sickening
All I achieved was my middle was thickening heart rate was quickening
Doctor said slow down or you gonna go down no takin it downtown at all
And with fifty four years of practice all I can say is I ain't no good at this
At all
There's no light at the end of the tunnel
And if there is then you're stuck in a funnel
I don't find it funny that chasing the money and grinding my honey
Is all that there is to existence this pointless persistence of wistfully hoping
Grasping and groping and mindin your business and feelin all listless
Well I'm bearing witness to Darwin's dilemma the light at the end of the tunnel is a lie
Now I suppose there's a little part of everyone of us
That wants to believe we belong to some kind of higher purpose
I mean, there have been moments
Usually on acid or mushrooms
When things took on a kind of transcendental kind of hue
But you follow that light
You follow it all the way
And you're going to realise
All you've been doin
All your life
Is following a light
Drinking that Gatorade learning how love is made callin a spade a spade
Getting a passing grade calling the Colonnade learning another trade
It was all pointless and shitless and joyless and quickly got sickening
All I achieved was my middle was thickening heart rate was quickening
Doctor said slow down or you gonna go down no takin it downtown at all
And with fifty four years of practice all I can say is I ain't no good at this
At all
There's no light at the end of the tunnel
And if there is then you're stuck in a funnel
I don't find it funny that chasing the money and grinding my honey
Is all that there is to existence this pointless persistence of wistfully hoping
And grasping and groping and mindin your business and feelin all listless
Then I'm bearing witness to Darwin's dilemma the light at the end of the tunnel is a lie
You thought
You thought there was some point to all of this
You thought that when you moved on
You would be movin on
But all you've done
All your life with all your achievements
And everything you have won
Is move just one step closer
To the light
And the light at the end of the tunnel
The light at the end of the tunnel is a
