You called me up Friday and caught me at lunchtime
Got to the point at your usual rate
Said we won't live forever and nor will our fathers
So let's drag them along to the Empire state
They might hesitate but if we start to work them
We could be on our way around this time next year
Our pitch should lean heavy on NHL hockey
And we'll throw in some pitchers of American beer
I say float the idea, put some money aside
When the schedule's out I will give you a call
The Islanders, Rangers or Devils
Might be hosting a Father's Day game next fall
Oh, to follow them 'round through the bars of Manhattan
And lean ourselves back in our seats as they go
Still to this day they got plenty to teach us
We're old enough now to listen real close
I say float the idea, put some money aside
When the schedule's out I will give you a call
The Islanders, Rangers or Devils
Might be hosting a Father's Day game next fall
Or maybe we'll end up on Broadway
In Nashville, Tennessee
They play a decent game there
And I'm sure it's a fine place to be
