We are born of stardust
And from the ash of time we grow
A billion billion combinations
Into everything we will ever know
As do the sands of time, I flow
Into this shattered iteration
Of what I was and what I am to be
As everything changed within me
I remember Heaven scented memories
Of the way it was before
Every sun will die, burned to stardust
A Universe in darkness evermore
I searched for salient reasons
Was there a purpose to this Dark Flow?
Between galactic seasons
The seeds of decay will grow into everything
From the death of stars
All life begins
Emergent patterns
Devastation to beatific form
From stardust on the cosmic wind
We are reborn
Molecular resurrection
From the skeletons of creation
Constructed of stardust
We are fundamentally the same
The dispersing corpses of exploded stars
We are the life inside that remains
And in my mind's eye
I am running out of time
As everything changes
In hindsight
I rearrange the lines
With graphic clarity
I understand something of nothing
And the struggle to remain
In a cosmos burned away
Eviscerating entropy
And a tolerance to the pain
Of non-existence
In the interim
I will strive for brief excellence
Nothing real lasts forever
And all things shall likewise pass away
So in the here and now we endeavor
Until the heavens are blown away
Into fragmentary stardust
We are forlorn as stardust
Flung into the deep cold
Unless we strive for immaculate purpose
With unique potential untold
