Uuuuuuu Laaaaaa
Uuuuuuu Laaaaaa
The wailing cry of the Martians
Uuuuuuu Laaaaaa
Was unnerving across London's empty streets
Alone in a city that was dead
I could barely think one step ahead
My ears hurting from Martian crying bleats
Like a wounded animal haunting the city's streets
As night turned to dawn
Martians were like the dead statutes on the lawn
Crazy with joy I ran along
The Martian song was finally gone
They are dead, dead, I shouted out loud
Looking skyward for any Martian in the cloud
It was the germs, simple germs
Had made meaningless their defensive berms
Leaving the Martians weak and stunned
Dying at night and in the midday sun
From death came life
The city recovering from the strife
Yet I fell into a deep purgatory
Alive in the retelling of my horror story
Until kind strangers helped me
Giving hope to my recovery
As I travelled back to my home
I had never felt so alone
Until I cheered when I walked by
A Union Jack flying so high
Over a dead Martian on its side
When I reached my home
I went inside the ruined tomb
A museum of memories
Full of love and horror stories
No hope, nothing to cherish
All that I love had perished
Suddenly I heard a faint cry
Both amazed and afraid it was a lie
I rushed outside
My cousin and wife were surprised
For in our darkest hour
We found that we had both survived
Very much still alive, alive
Uuuuuuuu Laaaaaaaa
Uuuuuuuu Laaaaaaaa
The wailing cry of the Martians
Uuuuuuuu Laaaaaaaa
They are dead, dead, I shouted
They are dead, dead, I shouted
As Martian cries echoed in my head
They are dead, all dead I shouted
All dead, all dead, I shouted
Peoples cries echoed in my head
Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Whispered my wife
The Martians are dead
We survived
We are alive, alive
We are alive
