Highway take me from the smokey life
I thought, man, it`s about time, leave those city lights behind
This highway turns slowly into a long and winding road
No more smokefilled bars and motels
Just clean air that`s pure as snow
At the bend of the river I finaly stopped the car
My eyes looked up to heaven, I wished upon a star
That you could just be here with me like the good old days we had
And I realy start to miss you
And that`s what makes me sad
Refr.:
Take some time off, put some miles on the road
Get your mind cleared, go somewhere ... but go
Take some time off, let them highway poles fly by,
let `em be your lonely friends
A song on your car radio and a road that never ends
The early morning sun woke me with them sweet birds calls
Listen to that gentle sound from a nearby waterfall
I thought that I was over you, had you off my mind
At least I lived my life like that, for such a long, long while
The crossroad had the answer, it says : there`s one more try
Just turn the wheel to the right ... and don`t ask why
When I pull into her driveway, see that big ole smile
As she steps outside and kissed me ...
...... Honey, please just hold me for a while
