Imagine Dragons - Radioactive Lyrics

Imagine Dragons Lyrics

Radioactive Lyrics
Jump to:
I'm waking up to ash and dust
I wipe my brow and I sweat my rust
I'm breathing in the chemicals

I'm breaking in, shaping up, then checking out on the prison bus
This is it, the apocalypse
Whoa

I'm waking up, I feel it in my bones
Enough to make my systems blow
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, I'm radioactive, radioactive
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, I'm radioactive, radioactive

I raise my flags, don my clothes
It's a revolution, I suppose
We're painted red to fit right in
Whoa

I'm breaking in, shaping up, then checking out on the prison bus
This is it, the apocalypse
Whoa

I'm waking up, I feel it in my bones
Enough to make my systems blow
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, I'm radioactive, radioactive
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, I'm radioactive, radioactive

All systems go, the sun hasn't died
Deep in my bones, straight from inside

I'm waking up, I feel it in my bones
Enough to make my systems blow
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, I'm radioactive, radioactive
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, I'm radioactive, radioactive

Radioactive Info:

Radioactive was recorded for their major-label debut EP Continued Silence and later on their debut studio album, Night Visions, as the opening track. "Radioactive" was first sent to radio on April 2, 2012 and again on October 29, 2012. Musically, "Radioactive" is an alternative rock song with elements of electronic rock and dubstep, while containing cryptic Lyrics of apocalyptic and revolutionist themes.
Speaking of the song, front man Dan Reynolds said: "Radioactive, to me, it's very masculine, powerful-sounding song, and the Lyrics behind it, there's a lot of personal story behind it, but generally speaking, it's a song about having an awakening; kind of waking up one day and deciding to do something new, and see life in a fresh way."
The song won for Best Rock Performance at the Grammy Awards in 2014. Imagine Dragons performed the song at the ceremony along with Kendrick Lamar in a mashup with Lamar's "m.A.A.d city."

Speaking of the video to MTV, Reynolds said ' "We read through a ton of scripts from really talented directors, and we came across one that stood out to us in particular, because it put into visuals the general theme of the song, which is kind of an empowering song about an awakening, but it did it in a way that was very different,". "A lot of people probably see a post-apocalyptic world when they hear 'Radioactive,' understandably, but we wanted to deliver something that was maybe a little different from that ... a lot different from that."
