It starts early, pot of chili on the stove
For a dozen or so cause you never know who might show up at the door
It ends late, dishes stacked up in the sink
Blow up mattress in the den, for a friend of a friend
Who just needs a place to sleep
Cause this home is not our own
Let's stay open to the Lord
As we open up our doors
As we open up our homes for His kingdom
Let's open up our lives
As we share the love of Christ
That we have all received
For there is freedom
To see strangers as neighbors
And neighbors as family of God
It won't be perfect, Yes, some things will have to wait
But it's worth it making sure there's a place for everyone not just for everything
We'll see Jesus, Like we've never seen before
As we share with one another, like sisters and brothers
Our burdens and our joys
Cause we can't do this alone
