In our holler
I'm hearin' the low hum of music
Comin' from the neighbor's barn
It's a deep belly moanin'
Hungry and croakin'
Ringing big bells in my achy heart
And we're turning corners
The dogs in the back seat
And God reaches down just to touch us where it hurts
It's funny we can't run from anything hard
It gets scary but we let it roll over our bodies
In our kitchen I'm watching
Laughin' and leanin'
My weight up against the wall by the mirror
It's starting to feel, a little colder in the mornings
Windows are foggy collecting our tears
You're like a light comin' out for a sweepin'
To see what needs bathing in your graces today
I'm hopin' I can keep up with you and your pacing
When you get so small, that you can't see whats true
The beauty in all of that takin' you do
The rippin' of parts that aren't serving you
Oh god am I grateful to witness you
The neighborhood cat would be lucky to have you
I hope he comes inside
To the warmth that we made up together
Just as wear gearin' for winter
