I find it rather obvious when I was just a young boy
How things were so different in a more engaging way
Now declining world standards and political correctness
I know it makes me a dinosaur and really that's ok
Now that I'm much older and my bucket list is long
My vision board's the right thing in a world gone so wrong
And don't tell me I have to accept a softened world view
Respect is earned not bought with votes in the world where I grew
Back in the day when gay meant happy
Back in the day when the F word was taboo
Back in the day when drugs were wrong and lawless
Back in the day when politicians worked for you
Back in the day when we respected Cops and Fathers
Back in the day of part time jobs after school
Back in the day a chore list to do
Back in the day of the golden rule
These days I end up shakin' my head quite frequently
When its thrown in my face this buzz word diversity
The political correct movement I never signed up for that
You can't fix what isn't broken creating adversity
Now that I'm much older collecting my paid dues
Suffice to say I earned my way please and thank you
It's become cliche to say it's a different world out there
It's an accurate observation far removed from our love affair
Back in the day of driving standard
She sat beside you with 4 on the floor
Back in the day when cars had muscle
Back in the day when we opened our girl's door
Back in the day of boy meets girl
Back in the day of the hustle and a date
Back in the day when we held our girl's hands
Back in the day when internet had no face
Back in the day of a record collection
Back in the day when a song was written to sing
Back in the day when rap meant a criminal record
And music awards were for musical things
Back in the day video games weren't invented
Back in the day we played games the real deal
Back in the day sun up sun down we played outside
Back in the day we played at life with feel
