J. DAV - The Plank Lyrics

J. DAV - The Plank Lyrics

I'm loaded with confessions
Derived from lessons
Worn on my sleeves
Wrinkled wrinkles
Like fallen leaves

I concede
For a moment
Blinded by uncertainty
Refuting to believe
That clouds obtain
A silver lining

The winding of this road
Rolling alone
I must know
Everything

I take notice
To the little things
Like when I begin
Self tampering

I know
No game of pandering
But rather
The game of meandering
Through the struggles
Of feeling inadequate
Yammering in the halls
Of my cognition
Stammering home
Searching for home gathering

I'm lathering the truth
And scattering the news
Like a boy on Sunday morning
Arriving with the paper
Fresh with the scoop

The aloofness
Type of behavior
I shall not savor
As if it were chocolate flavored

I cannot taste vulnerability
Without reassurance
You see
I am naturally raw
Open-minded
Casually capturing
These moments
Like fireflies in a jar

I embark
On all sparks
Of inspiration
Then step away
On a mental vacation
A minor complication
Lacking communication
Leads to child's play
Leads to fornication
Abbreviation
Gut wrenching statements
Our bodies encasing
Our minds erasing
The heartbreaking replacements
We choose in moments
Of agony
Demonstrate
Determine
And demand
Different people
At different times

I really don't mean much by that
I just like alliterations and rhymes

I find
As I call back to a previous piece of mine
That holy crap
It fits here as well
Again
This time

I have a tear
It resides
In my left eye
Remembering
Last night's dream
And how she crumbled
And how I woke
Wishing I could buy
More time

I'm trying to align
The present
With the future
Without disregarding the process of patience

But I am lacking clothes
A shelter
I am lain naked
And afraid
Like a convicted sailor
Walking the plank
