Mrs. Murphy slipped and fell
The poor girl broke her shoulder
Man it's hard to watch someone you love
Growing older
She sits with me and talks of things
She wishes she had done
It took 60 years to learn that youth
Is wasted on the young
Mrs. Murphy married at the height of the depression
Now gray and wise with cloudy eyes
She offers up suggestion
On helpful ways of living life
Based on Ecclesiastes
Like build your house on solid ground
There's nothing new that's lasting
Oooo the rich will worry
Oooo and fools will hurry
Oooo don't make promises
You can never keep
Patience over pride
The righteous welcome sleep
This is goodnight
Mrs. Murphy says she wants to live to be a hundred
She says be grateful for each day on Earth
Cause soon you're six feet under
And dead for longer than you live
So take what I am giving
You're younger than you'll ever be
And life is still worth living.
Oooo the rich will worry
Oooo and fools will hurry
Oooo don't make promises
You can never keep
Patience over pride
The righteous welcome sleep
This is goodnight
Be faithful to the king
Patience over pride
The righteous welcome sleep
This is goodnight
Ahhhh
