Broken words on a blank white page
I wrote a song about a coming of age
Drank a toast under far off lights
And cut a deal with the devil that night
Stumbled out into the world so blind
With all the lies I made up in my mind
I was drawn like a moth to flame
To whatever bit of fire remained
But the brighter the light, the darker the shadow
And the sweeter the win
The harder the battle
Deep is the water I wade in
And never ending is a long road
When there's a hundred more miles to go
Wild was the river I got saved in
Yeah, and like it finds a way to flow
This stone will always find a way to roll
There I stood, my throat so tight
Eyes swollen like a snake bite
Beat down like a street fight
Fooling myself thinking I was alright
And I believed every one of my lies
Pulled the wool over both of my eyes
But there was poetry in my disguise
Truth hidden in between the lines
But the brighter the light, the darker the shadow
And the sweeter the win
The harder the battle
Deep is the water I wade in
And never ending is a long road
When there's a hundred more miles to go
Wild was the river I got saved in
Yeah, and like it finds a way to flow
This stone will always find a way to roll
I'll keep on rolling
I'll keep on rolling
I'll keep on rolling
Yeah, I'm gonna keep on rolling
I'll keep on rolling
Deep is the water I wade in
And never ending is a long road
When there's a hundred more miles to go
Wild was the river I got saved in
And like it finds a way to flow
This stone will always find a way
To roll
