Jimi Hendrix - Are You Experienced Lyrics

Foxy Lady

Foxy, Foxy
You know you are a cute little heart breaker
Foxy yeah,
And you know you are a sweet little lover maker
Foxy

I wanna take you home, yeah
I won't do you no harm
You've got to be all mine, all mine
ooh Foxy Lady
Foxy, Foxy

Now-a I see you come down on the scene
oh Foxy
You make me wanna get up and-a scream
Foxy, oh baby listen now
I've made up my mind,
I'm tired of wasting all my precious time
You've got to be all mine, all mine

ooh, Foxy Lady
Ooh, Foxy Lady, yeah yeah
You look so good, Foxy
oh yeah Foxy
yeah, give us some, Foxy
Foxy Foxy
Foxy Foxy
Foxy Foxy

Manic Depression

Manic Depression's touching my soul,
I know what I want,
but I just don't know how to go about getting it.

Feeling, sweet feeling
drops from my finger, fingers
Manic Depression's captured my soul.

Woman so willing the sweet cause in vain,
you make love,
you break love,
it's-a all the same when it's...
when it's over.

Music sweet music,
I wish I could caress, caress, caress.
Manic Depression's a frustrating mess.
Well, I think I'll go turn myself off an' go on down.

Really ain't no use me hanging around.
Oh, I gotta see you.

Red House

Ah yeah!
There's a red house over yonder
That's where my baby stays
Lord, there's a red house over yonder
Lord, that's where my baby stays
I ain't been home to see my baby
In ninety nine and one half days

Wait a minute, something's wrong here
The key won't unlock this door
Wait a minute, something's wrong, lord, have mercy
This key won't unlock this door
Something's goin' on here
I have a bad bad feeling
That my baby don't live her no more

Well, I might as well go back over yonder
Way back up on the hill
That's something to do
Lord, I might as well go back over yonder
Way back yonder cross the hill
'Cause if my baby don't love me no more
I know her sister will
Yeah

Can you see me? begging you on my knees

Baby please don't leave
Yeah if you can see me doing that
You can see in the future of a thousand years

Can you hear me?
Cryin' all over town
Yeah babe
Can you hear me baby?
Crying cause you put me down
What's with ya
If you can hear me doing that
You can hear a frait train coming grom a thousand miles

Ah yeah
Can you hear me?
Singing this song to you
Ah you better hold up your ears
Can you see me baby?
Singing theis song to you
Ah shucks
If you can hear me sing
You better come home like you supposed to do

Can you see me?
Hey hey

Love Or Confusion

Is that the stars in the sky or is it raining far from now?
Will it burn me if I touch the sun,
so bit, so round?
Will I be truthful, yeah,
in choosing you as the one for me?

Is this love baby,
or is it-a just confusion?

Oh, my mind is so mixed up, goin' round 'n' round_
Must there be all these colors without names,
without sounds?
My heart burns with feelin' but
Oh! but my mind is cold and reeling.

Is this love, baby
or is it confusion?

Oh, my head is pounding pounding
going 'round and 'round and 'round and 'round.
Must there always be these colors?

I Dont Live Today

Will I live tomorrow?
Well I just can't say.
Will I live tomorrow?
Well, I just can't say.

But I know for sure
I Don't Live Today.

No sun coming through my windows,
feel like I'm sitting at the bottom of a grave.
No sun coming through my windows,
feel like I'm sitting at the bottom of a grave.

I wish you'd hurry up 'n' rescue me
so I can be on my mis'rable way

I Don't Live Today;
It's such a shame to waste you time away like this.

Will I live tomorrow?
Well, I just can't say.
Will I live tomorrow?
Well, I just can't say

But I know for sure
I Don't Live Today.

May This Be Love

Waterfall, nothing can harm me at all,
my worries seem so very small
with my waterfall.

I can see my rainbow calling me
through the misty breeze
of my waterfall.

Some people say day-dreaming's
for the lazy minded fools
with nothing else to do.

So let them laugh, laugh at me,
so just as long as I have you
to see me through,
I have nothing to lose 'long as I have you.

Waterfall, don't ever choose your ways.
Come with me for a million days,
Oh, my waterfall.

Fire

Alright,
Now dig this, baby

You don't care for me
I don'-a care about that
Gotta new fool, ha!
I like it like that

I have only one burning desire
Let me stand next to your fire
Let me stand next to your fire (Repeat 4 times)

Listen here, baby
And stop acting so crazy
You say your mum ain't home,
It ain't my concern,
Just play with me and you won't get burned

I have only one itching desire
Let me stand next to your fire
Let me stand next to your fire (Repeat 4 times)

Oh! Move over, Rover
And let Jimi take over
Yeah, you know what I'm talking 'bout
Yeah, get on with it, baby
That's what I'm talking 'bout
Now dig this!
Ha!
Now listen, baby

You try to gimme your money
You better save it, babe
Save it for your rainy day
I have only one burning desire
Let me stand next to your fire
Let me stand next to your fire

3rd Stone From the Sun

The beginning vocals were slowed down but with the words in front of you, you can understand them!!!

'star fleet to scout ship, please give your position. over'
'I am in orbit around the third planet from the star called the sun. over'
'you mean it's the earth? over.'
Positive. it is know to have some form of intelligent species. over'
'I think we should take a look.'

Strange beautiful grass of green
With your majestic silken seas
Your mysterious mountains
I wish to see closer
May I land my kinky machine

Although your world wonders me
With you majestic superior crackling hen
Your people I do not understand
So to you I wish to put and end
And you'll never hear surf music again

Remember

Oh, remember the mocking bird, my baby bun
He used to sing for his supper, baby
Yes he used to sing for his supper, babe
He used to sing so sweet
Since my baby left me he ain't sang for two long days
Oh, remember the blue-birds and the honey bees,
They used to sing for sunshine
They used to sing for the flowers
They used to sing so sweet
But since my baby left me they ain't sang in two long days
Hey pretty baby, come on back to me
Make ev'ry body as happy as can be
So, baby, if you'll please come home again you know i'll
Kiss you for my supper,
You know I'll kiss you for my dinner, yeah!
But, ah, if you don't come back you know I'll have to
Starve to death
'cus I ain't had one kiss all day now
Please remember
You've got to remember
You've got to remember our love
Come on back, baby, come on back in my arms,
I'll make ev'rything that better
Come on, baby, hurry up now
Can you hear me calling you back again now?
Come on, baby, stop jiving around, hurry home, hurry home

Are You Experienced?

If you can just get your mind together
then come across to me
We'll hold hands an' then we'll watch the sun rise
from the bottom of the sea
But first

Are You Experienced?
Ah! Have you ever been experienced?
Well, I have

I know, I know
you'll probably scream n' cry
That your little world won't let go
But who in your measly little world are trying to prove that
You're made out of gold and -a can't be sold

So-er, Are You Experienced?
Ah! Have you ever been experienced?
Well, I have

Ah, let me prove it to you
I think they're calling our names
Maybe now you can't hear them, but you will
if you just take hold of my hand

Ah! But Are You Experienced?
Have you ever been experienced?

Not necessarily stoned, but beautiful

Back to: Jimi Hendrix

Are You Experienced is the debut studio album by the Jimi Hendrix Experience, released in May 1967. The album was an immediate critical and commercial success, and is widely regarded as one of the greatest albums of all time. It features Jimi Hendrix's innovative approach to songwriting and electric guitar playing, which soon established a new direction in psychedelic and rock music as a whole.

After struggling to earn a living on the R&B circuit as a backing guitarist, Hendrix signed a management and production contract in 1966 with former Animals member Chas Chandler and ex-Animals manager Michael Jeffery. Chandler brought Hendrix to London and recruited members for the Jimi Hendrix Experience, a band designed to showcase the guitarist's talents. In late October, after having been rejected by Decca Records, the Experience signed with Track, a new label formed by the Who's managers Kit Lambert and Chris Stamp. Are You Experienced and its preceding singles were recorded over a five-month period from late October 1966 through early April 1967. The album was completed in 16 recording sessions at three London locations: De Lane Lea Studios, CBS Studios, and Olympic Studios.

Released in the UK on May 12, 1967, Are You Experienced spent 33 weeks on the British charts, peaking at number two. The album was issued in the US on August 23 by Reprise Records, where it reached number five on the US Billboard Top LPs chart, remaining on the chart for 106 weeks, 76 of those in the Top 40. The album also spent 70 weeks on the US Billboard Hot R&B LPs chart, where it peaked at number 10. The US version contained some of Hendrix's best known songs, including the Experience's first three singles, which, though omitted from the British edition of the LP, were top ten hits in the UK: "Purple Haze", "Hey Joe", and "The Wind Cries Mary". Hendrix was unhappy with the cover artwork for the UK edition, and solicited photographer Karl Ferris to create a more "psychedelic" cover for the US release.

In the decades since its release, Are You Experienced has continued to receive acclaim. It was voted number 63 in Colin Larkin's All Time Top 1000 Albums in 2000. Rolling Stone ranked Are You Experienced 30th on its 2020 list of the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time". In 2010, the magazine placed four songs from the US version of the album on their list of the "500 Greatest Songs of All Time": "Purple Haze" (17), "Foxy Lady" (153), "Hey Joe" (201), and "The Wind Cries Mary" (379). In 2005, the album was one of 50 recordings chosen by the Library of Congress to be added to the National Recording Registry for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".

Writer and archivist Reuben Jackson of the Smithsonian Institution wrote: "it's still a landmark recording because it is of the rock, R&B, blues ... musical tradition. It altered the syntax of the music ... in a way I compare to James Joyce's Ulysses."
