Jonas Brothers - Happiness Begins Lyrics

Sucker

We go together
Better than birds of a feather, you and me
We change the weather, yeah
I'm feeling heat in December when you're 'round me

I've been dancing on top of cars and stumbling out of bars
I follow you through the dark, can't get enough
You're the medicine and the pain, the tattoo inside my brain
And, baby, you know it's obvious

I'm a sucker for you
Say the word and I'll go anywhere blindly
I'm a sucker for you, yeah
Any road you take, you know that you'll find me
I'm a sucker for all the subliminal things
No one knows about you (about you), about you (about you)
And you're making the typical me break my typical rules
It's true, I'm a sucker for you (yeah)

Don't complicate it (yeah)
'Cause I know you and you know everything about me
I can't remember
All of the nights I don't remember
When you're 'round me (oh, yeah, yeah)

I've been dancing on top of cars and stumbling out of bars
I follow you through the dark, can't get enough
You're the medicine and the pain, the tattoo inside my brain
And, baby, you know it's obvious

I'm a sucker for you
Say the word and I'll go anywhere blindly
I'm a sucker for you, yeah
Any road you take, you know that you'll find me
I'm a sucker for all the subliminal things
No one knows about you (about you), about you (about you)
And you're making the typical me break my typical rules
It's true, I'm a sucker for you, yeah

(I'm a sucker for you)

I've been dancing on top of cars and stumbling out of bars

Cool

I'm feeling so cool
Top to the bottom, just cool
Every little thing that I do
Dammit, I'm feelin' so coo-oo-ool, yeah

Woke up feelin' like a new James Dean
I comb my hair like an old-school scene
I'm feelin' high like a late night summer of last year, yeah
Standin' there with the red dress on ya
A Killer Queen like a young Jane Fonda
Is it me, or am I just havin' a good year?

Lately, I've been feelin' so cool (cool)
Top to the bottom, just cool (cool)
Every little thing that I do (do)
Dammit, I feel so coo-oo-oo-oo-oo-ool
It's like, ooh (ooh)
Maybe I should bottle my moves (moves)
Sell 'em for a dollar or two (two)
Dammit, I'm feelin' so coo-oo-oo-oo-oo-ool (cool)

Must've done something right 'cause all these
Lights are green, man, they look like palm trees
And every time that song comes on it's about me
Oh, I feel like Post Malone when I get home
Sittin' there, winnin' like it's Game of Thrones
And now that we've made it, how complicated was last year?

Lately, I've been feelin' so cool (cool)
Top to the bottom, just cool (cool)
Every little thing that I do (do)
Dammit, I feel so coo-oo-oo-oo-oo-ool
It's like, ooh (ooh)
Maybe I should bottle my moves (moves)
Sell 'em for a dollar or two (two)
'Cause dammit, I'm feelin' so coo-oo-oo-oo-oo-ool

Woke up feelin' like a new James Dean
I comb my hair like an old-school scene
When I grow up, I wanna be just like me

Lately, I've been feelin' so cool (cool)
Top to the bottom, just cool (cool)
Every little thing that I do (I do)
Dammit, I'm feelin' so coo-oo-oo-oo-oo-ool
It's like, ooh (ooh)
Maybe I should bottle my moves (moves)

'Cause dammit, I'm feelin' so coo-oo-oo-oo-oo-ool

Only Human

Woo, hey
Yeah, ayy

I don't want this night to end
It's closing time, so leave with me again (yeah)
You got all my love to spend, oh
Let's find a place where happiness begins (jump)

We gon' dance in my living room, slave to the way you move
Hurts when I'm leaving you (ayy)
Just dance in the living room, love with an attitude
Drunk to an 80s groove (ayy)
We gon' dance in my living room, slave to the way you move
Hurts when I'm leaving you (ayy-ayy-ay)
Dance in the living room, love with an attitude
Drunk

It's only human, you know that it's real
So why would you fight or try to deny the way that you feel?
Oh, babe, you can't fool me, your body's got other plans
So stop pretending you're shy, just come on and
Dance, dance, dance, dance, oh

Early morning la-la-light
Only getting up to close the blinds, oh
I'm praying you don't change your mind
'Cause leaving now just don't feel right
Let's do it one more time, oh babe

We gon' dance in my living room, slave to the way you move
Hurts when I'm leaving you (hurts when I'm leaving you)
Just dance in the living room, love with an attitude
Drunk to an 80s groove (ayy)
We gon' dance in my living room, slave to the way you move
Hurts when I'm leaving you (ayy-ayy-ay)
Dance in the living room, love with an attitude
Drunk (drunk, drunk)

It's only human, you know that it's real (know that it's real)
So why would you fight or try to deny the way that you feel?
(Way that you feel)
Oh, babe, you can't fool me, your body's got other plans
So stop pretending you're shy, just come on and
Dance, dance, dance, dance, oh

Dance, oh (woo, ayy)
Only human
It's only (man), it's only (man)
Only human
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah
Only human

I Believe

Every night, every day, how about every lifetime?
Yeah, I know what they say, and that's fine
'Cause I'm here to stay through the good and the bad times
Baby, save me to space in you're mind, yeah

Call me crazy
And people saying that we move too fast
But I've been waiting, and for a reason
Ain't no turning back

'Cause you show me something I can't live without
I believe, I believe, I believe
When you hold me, it's like Heaven coming down
I believe, I believe, I believe

That you show me (show me, show me)
That you show me (show me, show me)

Everywhere that I go, feeling you all around me
Now that I got you close, I'm alright
Baby, I didn't know, but I'm glad that you found me
'Cause I'm seeing the most in your eyes, oh yeah, yeah

Call me crazy
People saying that we move too fast (too fast)
But I've been waiting for a reason
Ain't no turning back

'Cause you show me something I can't live without (ah yeah)
And I believe, I believe, I believe
When you hold me (hold me)
It's like Heaven coming down (mmm, yea-yeah)
I believe, I believe, I believe

That you show me (show me, show me), you show me
That you show me (show me, show me), you show me

Doesn't matter anymore, now I got you here with me
Nothing matters any longer, now I got you here with me
I think about you every time I, every time I lose myself again
I lose myself again

'Cause you show me something I can't live without
I believe, I believe, I believe
When you hold me, it's like Heaven coming down
I believe, I believe, I believe
'Cause you show me something I can't live without (oh yeah)
I believe, I believe, I believe
When you hold me (when you hold me)
It's like Heaven coming down
I believe, I believe, I believe

'Cause you show me (something I can't live without)
That you show me (show me, show me), no
No (and I believe, I believe, I believe)

Used to Be

Spending all your time with your new friends
And you take 'em all the places now that we been
But you used to be the one I love
Yeah, you used to be the one I love
Say you wanna talk, "How have you beens"
I'm the only one you know that'll listen
And you used to be the one I love
Yeah, you used to be the one I love (used to be the one I)

Lately I don't even know ya
Too many devils on your shoulder, shoulder
Oh my God
Baby, if it's what you want
I just wanna see you happy
I can see it in your eyes
And you don't believe me
I don't like
Even though you're not mine

Cold feet turned into cold weather
We had love, now it don't matter
You just thought you could do better
So do better

Spending all your time with your new friends
And you're take 'em all the places now that we been
But you used to be the one I love (used to be the one I)
Yeah, you used to be the one I love (used to be the one I)
Say you wanna talk, "How have you beens"
I'm the only one you know that'll listen
And you used to be the one I love (used to be the one I)
Yeah, you used to be the one I love (used to be the one I)

Woke up late and I'm dreamin' (yeah)
So tired of chasing all your demons (demons)
Oh my God
Baby, if it's what you want (if it's what you)
Little late if you ask me
But you know I'll come around if you ask me, ask me
I don't like
Even though you're not mine, oh yeah

Cold feet turned into cold weather
We had love, now it don't matter
You just thought you could do better
So do better

Spending all your time with your new friends

Every Single Time

Mr. Misdemeanor
Call me up and say you're needin' my love
Now you say you're leaving, oh yeah
Like you never even needed my love
Then I don't even see you (ooh ooh, ooh ooh)
Not even for a weekend or a month
So much you left between us (ooh ooh, ooh ooh)
But you don't ever think about us (ooh ooh ooh)

Why do, why do, why do, why do I want you
Even though you make it hard and I don't want to?
And now I'm out here catching feelings like I want you
But all you ever do is look a, look away

Every single time, I keep on coming back to you
You're always on my mind, it doesn't matter what I do (I do)
Every single time, I keep on coming back to you
But keep me on the line, if loving you's a crime
Then I won't keep my love locked down for you
Every single time

Yeah, I remember when we met
Like it was yesterday in Amsterdam (smoke it up)
We can walk through every season
Oh, every day, oh, every day
And I can't believe it now (I can't believe it)
You think, you think it's only physical (oh no, no)
No good at getting even
The way you play, the way you play

Why do, why do, why do, why do I want you
Even though you make it hard and I don't want to?
And now I'm out here catching feelings like I want you
But all you ever do is look a, look away

Every single time, I keep on coming back to you
(I keep on coming)
You're always on my mind (always on my mind)
It doesn't matter what I do, I do
Every single time, I keep on coming back to you
(I keep coming back)
But keep me on the line, if loving you's a crime
Then I won't keep my love locked down for you
Every single time

Every single, every single time
Every single, every single time
Every single, every single time
Love locked down for you

Because there's too much water
Under this bridge to go down like this
I never thought that we'd come this far
To - it all up and e-end like this

Every single time, I keep on coming back to you
You're always on my mind, it doesn't matter what I do (I do)
Every single time, I keep on coming back to you
But keep me on the line, if loving you's a crime
Then I won't keep my love locked down for you
Every single time

(Every single, every single time)
(Every single, every single time)
Every single time
(Every single, every single time)

Dont Throw It Away

Take pictures out of all the frames
Pack up your love with all your things
See if it helps, give it a week
I bet no one else gets you like me

'Cause I know you think you're better off without me now
Sayin' all you need is space, baby, we can work this out

But don't throw it away this time, just take a little time to think
Don't throw it away, it's fine, just don't forget to think of me
Don't throw it away, your mind is messin' with your head again
Instead of walkin' away you should give it a break, tell me what to say
Don't throw it away

Don't save the words 'til it's too late
I know it hurts and that's okay
If it's too much to open up, then give it time
I see it in your eyes so let's sleep on it tonight

'Cause I know you think you're better off without me now
Sayin' all you need is space, baby, we can work this out

But don't throw it away this time, just take a little time to think
Don't throw it away, it's fine, just don't forget to think of me
Don't throw it away, your mind is messin' with your head again
Instead of walkin' away you should give it a break, tell me what to say
Don't throw it away

Take your time-time, take your time, don't throw it away
Take your time-time, don't throw it away, yeah
Take your time-time, take your time, don't throw it away, yeah
Take your time-time, don't throw it away

But don't throw it away this time, just take a little time to think
Don't throw it away, it's fine, just don't forget to think of me
Don't throw it away, your mind is messin' with your head again
Instead of walkin' away you should give it a break, tell me what to say

Love Her

Drive me crazy, make me mental
No other buttons she can push
One second she's Miss Sentimental
Then she's afraid she's said too much

Opposites attract and we're the livin' proof of this
But I keep on comin' back like a magnet

'Cause when you love her
No matter the fight you know she's always right
And it's alright
And they say love can hurt
But seein' her smile can get you every time
Yeah, every time
Because you love her, la-la-la-la
Love her, yeah

I put my selfish ways in boxes
And shipped 'em back to where they came
Will never let it get close to bein' toxic
And I promise I'll never walk away

Opposites attract and we're the livin' proof of this
But I keep on comin' back like a magnet

'Cause when you love her
No matter the fight you know she's always right
And that's alright
And they say love can hurt
But seein' her smile can get you every time
Yeah, every time
Because you love her, la-la-la-la
Love her, yeah

Gotta learn to let the small things go
And know it's always far from perfect
And I know that we can get emotional
But the hardest parts are always worth it

'Cause when you love her
No matter the fight you know she's always right
And that's alright
And they say love can hurt
But seein' her smile will get you every time
Yeah, every time
Because you love her, la-la-la-la
Love her, yeah

Because you love her, la-la-la-la-la-la-la
Love her, yeah
Because you
Because you love her

Happy When Im Sad

When I look at old stuff, lookin' like it's over
Lookin' like I'm never going to be that again
Crying over old loves even though they're over
Never gonna stay friends, yeah, stay friends

They think I'm happy
They think I'm happy when I'm sad
They think I'm happy
They think I'm happy when I'm
They think I'm happy
They think I'm happy when I'm sad
They think I'm happy
They think I'm happy when I'm

Hey, look how we made it, say "Congratulations"
Lookin' like I'll never be lonely again
See me in the mirror, nothin' ever changes
Never see the sunset, only in my head

They think I'm happy
They think I'm happy when I'm sad
They think I'm happy
They think I'm happy when I'm
They think I'm happy
They think I'm happy when I'm sad
They think I'm happy
They think I'm happy when I'm

Never gonna stop, never gonna calm down
Never gonna stop
They think I'm happy when I'm
Never gonna stop, never gonna calm down
Never gonna stop, no
They think I'm happy when I'm

I put on a smile, don't need a face-lift
Why can I when everybody fakes it?
Well, they think I'm happy
Like they know exactly how I feel
You ain't real, but they still fake

They think I'm happy
They think I'm happy when I'm sad
They think I'm happy
They think I'm happy when I'm
They think I'm happy
They think I'm happy when I'm sad
They think I'm happy
They think I'm happy when I'm

Never gonna stop (I try), never gonna calm down
Never gonna stop
They think I'm happy when I'm
Never gonna stop, never gonna calm down
Never gonna stop, no
They think I'm happy when I'm

Trust

I don't trust myself when I'm around you
I don't trust myself when I'm around you

Lately, I don't think I even know me
Every time you come around, I'm like the old me, old me
Take me back to when you were my only
Well, we were thicker than thieves, like a pod, two peas

And all at once, it's like I'm being someone else, yeah
You're all I want but I know that you're bad for my health

I don't trust myself when I'm around you
I don't trust myself when I'm around you
Doing things I never do, acting like a damn fool
I don't trust myself when I'm around you

I know that I'm better off without you
But I know that I could never live without you, 'out you
Thinkin' 'bout my lips upon your mouth, yeah
Got me weak in the knees, my God, can't breathe

And all at once (all at once)
It's like I'm being someone else (I can be your someone else)
All I want (all I want)
I know that you're bad for my health (oh no, no)

I don't trust myself when I'm around you (hey)
I don't trust myself when I'm around you (without you, baby)
Doing things I never do (ayy, ayy, ayy)
Acting like a damn fool
Yeah, I don't trust myself when I'm around you

Strangers

I came here looking for another excuse
To run away from something beautiful
It's like it's driving me closer to you
Every step back pulls me right back to you

Time stands still and it's only us
What we feel started way before we ever touched
Just imagine only us
Yeah, you found me right before I'd given up

I just saw the lightning strike
Knew it right then when I looked in your eyes
And I said to myself, "It's no surprise we ain't strangers"
Strangers tonight
Must be from a different life
Been here before and it just feels right
No, this ain't the first time for you and I, we ain't strangers
Strangers tonight

Strangers (strangers)

Familiar in ways I can't explain
You got a heart that I know I can miss
Hold me like that and pull me right back again

What we feel started way before we ever touched
Just imagine only us

Hesitate

Kiss the tears right off your face
Won't get scared, that's the old, old, old me
I'll be there, time and place
Lay it on me, all you're hold, hold, holding

Time, time only heals if we work through it now
I promise we'll figure this out

I will take your pain
And put it on my heart
I won't hesitate
Just tell me where to start
I thank the oceans for giving me you
You saved me once and now I'll save you too
I won't hesitate for you

Don't you ever say goodbye
Cross my heart, and you can keep, keep, keep mine
If I could only read your mind
Then I could map out all the ways to make it right

Time, time only heals if we work through it now
I, I promise we'll figure this out

I will take your pain
And put it on my heart
I won't hesitate
Just tell me where to start
I thank the oceans for giving me you
You saved me once and now I'll save you too
I won't hesitate for you

Pull me close and I'll hold you tight
Don't be scared 'cause I'm on your side
Know there's nothing I wouldn't do for you
Pull me close and I'll hold you tight
Don't be scared 'cause I'm on your side
Know there's nothing I wouldn't do for you

Rollercoaster

Nights, flying down the 10, nearly 2 AM
Happiness begins
Days lifted in a haze, we weren't just a phase
We weren't just pretend (just pretend)

I remember low lows and high highs
We threw our hands up, palms out to the skies

It was fun when we were young and now we're older
Those days when we were broke in California
We were up-and-down and barely made it over
But I'd go back and ride that roller coaster
It was fun when we were young and now we're older
Those days that are the worst, they seem to glow now
We were up-and-down and barely made it over
But I'd go back and ride that roller coaster with you

Woo ooh ooh, woo ooh
Woo ooh ooh (oh, oh)
But I'd come back and ride that roller coaster

Faith led me to the clouds, reaching for the ground
His life was upside down
Now everything has changed, we found better days
But I still hear the sound

I remember low lows and high highs
We threw our hands up, palms out to the skies

It was fun when we were young and now we're older
Those days when we were broke in California
We were up-and-down and barely made it over
But I'd go back and ride that roller coaster

Comeback

Come back to me, baby, I'll come back to you
You know the place that I go runnin' to
I get scared when you're scared but what else can I do?
Come back to me, baby, I'll come back to you

Wherever you are right now
Know somehow
I'll be on the way like a bat out of hell
Heaven knows I'm proud but I'll turn 'round
Baby, if you stay then I won't to let you down
Whatever we've done, whatever we'll do
Baby, if you come back now
I'll come back to you

Come back to me, baby, I'll come back to you
Light up the world like only you can do
If you're lost on the way then I'll get lost too
Come back to me, baby, I'll come back to you

Wherever you are right now
Know somehow
I'll be on the way like a bat out of hell
Heaven knows I'm proud but I'll turn 'round
Baby, if you stay then I won't to let you down
Whatever we've done, whatever we'll do
Baby, if you come back now, I'll come back to you

Come back
Come back

Come back to me, baby, I'll come back to you
You know the place that I go running to
I get scared when you're scared but what else can I do?
Come back to me, baby, I'll come back to you

Happiness Begins is the fifth studio album by American pop rock band Jonas Brothers, released on June 7, 2019, by Republic Records. It is their first studio album since Lines, Vines and Trying Times (2009).

For the record, the band enlisted producers Ryan Tedder, Greg Kurstin, Justin Tranter, along with Joel Little, Mike Sabath and Shellback to help create a "new and improved sound" with "feel-good tracks" pop album.

It marked the first body of work of original material released by the group since their reunion on February 28, 2019, and marked a departure from the more pop rock sound from the previous albums.

It was preceded by their comeback single "Sucker", and was supported by the singles "Cool" and "Only Human", all of which achieve commercial success and charted in several countries, with the former debuting atop the Billboard Hot 100.

The record was critically well received, who complimented it for the production values and upbeat, pop-oriented sound. With critics calling it a welcomed reunion for the band and a good pop album, Happiness Begins was regarded as one of the best albums from the Jonas Brothers' catalog, as it captured their mature essence while preserving the charm present since the early years.

The album debuted at number atop the US Billboard 200 and charted on multiple countries. It was a commercial success, having sold over one million units in the United States, being certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

It has also received gold or higher certification in Canada, Brazil, Denmark, Netherlands, Poland and Singapore. To support the album, the Jonas Brothers embarked on the Happiness Begins Tour, from August 7, 2019 to February 22, 2020, having performed 92 shows in Europe and North America.
