Josh Read - Saint Mary's Lyrics

Josh Read - Saint Mary's Lyrics

Sunlight pours down, drowning in sound, the world opens up and spirits resurge
Yet I'm in two minds, closing the blinds, restrained within an eternal scourge
Saint Mary shines on, her beacon belongs, piercing the veil of the midnight sky
Yet I can't withstand, this cruel sleight of hand. I'm lost here and I don't know why
I'm shackled within, my hair's growing thin, my body and mind are wasting away
But I'm my own prisoner, the self is the spindler, thieving the chance of greeting the day
No stranger to ridicule, people can make you feel so miniscule
There's sense in being coy, it shelters me from being destroyed
There are no alternatives, soliloquy, scratch out the superlatives
And when I'm climbing, darkness returns, and its opacity burns
Sunlight pours down, empty of sound, I filter out the noise below
Atop my brick tower, devoid of power, confronted by a dimming glow
I take the first step, at my body's behest, but my mind glimpses my dreams unfold
The chimera attacks, it draws me back, I must escape before I grow old
I'm shackled within, my hair's growing thin, my body and mind are wasting away
But I'm my own prisoner, the self is the spindler, thieving the chance of greeting the day
Where did it go? The days pass so slow
I don't know why, the weeping willow cries
The mercury fills my veins, yet again, and again
Yet I need to fight through this pain
Break the shackles within, break the ties of this body thin, force the shadows to run and hide
I am the recluse, the noose must come loose, obtain the power to defeat what's inside
