Rode my bike down a couple blocks
To the neighborhood baseball field
Couple scars on my legs and shoulders
Didn't had no helmets and shields
No one wanted to play with me
Cause I wasn't normal like everyone else
So I shut my door
And put myself back on the shelf
From being bad in school
I never thought I was gonna get far
If I wasn't older I would've not been
Drinking at this little dive bar
I would've not walked over that bridge
To a river by that creek
But now that's all a memory
I'll remember for centuries
It would break my heart just to
Leave a big ol' city
If it wasn't for the town that built me
First grade I was bad on my birthday
Didn't get my game like I wanted
It was worth learning my lesson
That anger has its consequences
From a small town boy to a city living man
I'm doing what I love doing best
I ain't settling for nothing more or less
From being bad in school
I never thought I was gonna get far
If I wasn't older I would've not been
Drinking at this little dive bar
I would've not walked over that bridge
To a river by that creek
But now that's all a memory
I'll remember for centuries
It would break my heart just to
Leave a big ol' city
If it wasn't for the town that built me
There were memories I've regret in the past
Like the wild wild west
A tornado flew in bad
Torn up everything I love
But I'll never forget the life I had
Looking at the past
I never thought I was gonna get far
Now I'm sitting here thankful I got the
Chance to drink at this bar
I would've not walked over that bridge
To a river by that creek
But now that's all a memory
I'll remember for centuries
It would break my heart just to
Leave a big ol' city
If it wasn't for the town that built me
