Humble beginnings of a young soul
Trying to do the same for us
The feeling of their alienation
Spoken of once, but years ago
Spoken of once, but years ago
Two doors closing in our faces in one night
Each will open if the other makes it right
The party guests convince the hosts to no avail,
Leaving them pacing in the hall
Then one evening, one door opened sharing light
The scene was gruesome
I was stupid, and deaf and blind
Bringing music to what was unspoken to share one mind
With no response, the window closed
Still the light pours in through curtains of silk
As they graze the checkered floor
Vibrant and warm, but like the space
I'm greeted by her, but I can only say hello to him
The misunderstanding that we both know
Two doors closing in our faces in one night
Each will open if the other makes it right
The party guests convince the hosts to no avail,
Leaving them pacing in the hall
Exhaustion shared,
But you stare as if I could never understand.
I try my best to provide some relief,
But the energy is unmatched.
And left suspended weightless in the dust,
But heavy on my chest.
Maybe it's all in my head,
Too much time alone to think,
And not enough dialogue
In time you'll grow to be tender
And I will be grateful for all that you did.
In time we'll talk like we're human
And not just be screaming and building up walls.
