Cop Car is a song written by Zach Crowell, Sam Hunt, and Matt Jenkins, and recorded by Australian country music
singer Keith Urban. It was released in January 2014 as the third single from his studio album Fuse.
Keith Urban explained:
"It's a beautiful song about a guy and girl, falling in love in the back of a cop car
while they're getting arrested. I'd never heard a song written from
this perspective before. But it was so visual, it was such a cinematic, visual song,
and God, I love this song so much. I love the melody, the lyric of course, and I know this girl,
and I know this crazy girl in the song too."
Hunt noted to Taste Of Country that he still talks to the the girl in the song and drew inspiration
from her side of the story. "Actually … I talk to her a lot, and I'd ask her what she thought about
this and what she thought about that," he shared. "So I had a female perspective to bounce things
off of. She was my girlfriend at the time. She's a great, great girl."
