The Lady Acorns - The Haunted Photograph Lyrics

I should never have gone to that antiques sale
I was warned but I did not heed
So settle in and I'll tell you the tale
Of this haunted photograph

I caught a glimpse through the pouring rain
The frame twisted to see me (oh very spooky)
That's when I saw the visage of her
A face filled with pain
So I walked over just to see
To my surprise she was marked for free
There was something awfully eerie
So I took her home

And then my nightmare truly began
What I had once know had now changed
It wasn't clear if it were related
To this haunted photograph
But as time crawled by
I began to hear her oh this can't be good
Footsteps echoing from distant rooms
And a faint perfume
Soon the television was just static
I think I'm just being too dramatic
Is that her scuttling in the attic
This can't be real or can it

Lipstick conveying messages
Now adorned my mirrors
She revealed herself to be Lily
And that my time was ending oh dear oh dear
I threw her out into my bin
It felt like she was still within
Back the next day with that big grin
A shameful show old boy indeed
I used my matches to set her alight
She just laughed at me with spite
I don't think I can win this fight
She can't be harmed

She creeps into my private chamber at night
I dare not open my eyes-not till dawn
I can't go on living anymore
With this haunted photograph
I marched toward the mantelpiece
Where I had placed her
A chilling shiver ran through my spine
The frame void of her presence
I fell to my knees and pled
For her to just please stay dead
Through her tortured voice she said
You've set me free

As she wailed my strength was drained
My body crumbled and turned to shade
I gaze out from my mantelpiece
Forever bound within the cursed frame
Of this haunted photograph
