Jonah, I've been meaning to write sooner
But lately, I've can seem to find the time
City life just picks you up and spins you
Turns out all your pockets for the crowd
Jonah, life just couldn't get much better
No, it's true; the city never sleeps
But running with the guys who'd run and hadn't
They all play seems so very far from me
And you know city parks have daffodils
If you close your eyes, you can almost see the countryside
And blue skies; if you look between the buildings
And if I've the time, I'll make it back to see you
Sometime soon
People hear don't slow down for a second
On the weekend you should see us play
But sometimes some days seem to last forever
The minutes turn to hours turn to days
And you know city parks have daffodils
If you close your eyes, you can almost see the countryside
And blue skies; if you look between the buildings
And if I've the time, I'll make it back to see you
Sometimes I think I see familiar faces
But they're always strangers staring back at me
And I've been lost in so many different places
But it's always your voice that's calling out to me
Jonah, leave a candle by the window
Shine a little light to guide me home
Since I've put a million miles between us
Lately, I've been feeling so alone
